Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
Looks awesome Frank. Does the control arm not physically fit anymore? There are chromoly upper arm assemblies on ebay regularly for ~$200 Canadian. A member on s10planet used a set to fit a BBC in his blazer and he said they were good quality and saved alot of space over the stockers.

yup, just an ls2 intake. i ported it slightly around the port and smoothed some edges around the tb mouth for those of you who havent seen it yet here is what that intake looked like before and after (since i have no progress pix )![]() ![]() ![]() Tyson, the control arm fits, it just wont go in or come out once the exhaust is in place... i dont have the money for new control arms!! first person to buy me a tig welder will get a free set of headers! |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
lol its paint
that was the whole idea, i didnt want anyone to know that it was painted... i cant remember how i finished it though. i scratched the back of it last year so im going to need to fix it eventually i think it was a gloss black coat and a wet sand... tell the truth, i dont even know if thats the final look it had. this was it after installation ![]() now that i see that picture, i think the previous picture wasnt the final finish... i can remember what i did! ![]() |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
You were telling me it was a mix of like three different spray bomb blacks. just like a light fogging of low gloss over the gloss or something. Oh, if it's cool with you frank i might slide by the shop saturday to get those springs off the heads.

now im looking for axles anyone need some cheap 4x4 axles?? lol stuck my trans in there to see where im gonna put those lines and made my first set of holes for the new lines... check it ![]() engines out for now, until i need it back in again. i also tried to get one spring in for the hell of it and my engine isnt heavy enough ![]() |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
You should make me one of those carrier bearing x-members...and a set of longtubes...While you're at it come down and grind my frame down and paint it. That way when I get back from Iraq I just have to drop the engine/trans in...Looking good...

Are you still having problems with your A/C pulley alignment? What is your bracket from? and What is your Crank Pulley from?

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
i havent really been looking at the a/c much.. the alignment is still out a bit
the bracket and pump are ls6 and the balancer is Pioneer it might work with the slight offset, but im not sure i have an ls1 pump and bracket, and those arent even close to working ive compared my balancer's teeth to a 6.0L truck balancer and they match i wonder if its possible my balancer isnt on all the way uh oh, who built my motor?! either that or i could have the seat machined to bring it close to the block. i will look into these eventually, once i put the engine in for good and get my acc's back onPetro, you are a funny guy! |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
What rearend is that?? The axle tubes look larger around the center section then taper down...but they larger part look like it comes out further than a 8.5" to me...And how wide are those tires??One more question are those new body mount bushings??

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
I see , so it was like a ZR2 8.5" Rear....and those tires will look nice from the rear....I knew the bushings didn't look right....and that sucks about losing those parts...

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
Get to acustomed to the 4x4 stance of the daily? I thought this was a street truck frank, not a bogger!
I'm digging the rags under the tires to keep them off the floor. Which parts from the leafs did you loose? Still that one nut and bolt? |

I see that you cut the bump stop cups off too...I folded mine over though and then welded it. Here is a pic before I got done folding it over and welding it.

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
How have i missed this entire thread?!?!?!?!??!!
That thing is coming along AWESOMELY!!!! When did you make those long tubes? How's your steering shaft situation with those? Looks impossible! Did you make them with the engine, and cab on the truck? can they even be installed/removed with the engine and cab in??? Also, ever figure out the spacer and flexplate situation??? what did u end up going with? 4.3 plate and 5.3 spacer?? |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
i made the headers almost three years ago, i think. the steering shaft clears just fine, but has to be removed to get the headers in i made them with cab on but not with my engine. i used a bare 5.3 block ![]() and yes, they can be installed with the cab on but the engine needs to be lifted and steering column removed as for the flexplate situation, it was figured out a long time ago! been driving my truck for two summers already. i used a short flange crank, offset flywheel (5.3L) and slotted the holes to match the stock 4.3L converter. trans is still stock too |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
bandit, earlier cranks had a wider seal flange than others. these cranks are 1999 and 2000 4.8L's casting 312 and 6.0L's casting 215
![]() dont worry about the reluctor ring missing on the lower crank most common was a short flange, so most cranks need a spacer to mate up with a newer transmission the big problem is when you get a wider flange crank, it will not work against a new trans without a bellhousing spacer nope, my trans was never built (as far as i know) hopefully i blow it up this year cuz im gonna get on the dyno! |
