Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
probably not the best place to post this info, but Brian since i know youre watching this youll see it. i got the flex plate off tonight and its different than the flexp off the 5.3 i had (forgot to give it to the guy D: ) it has dual pattern bolt holes for the converter and also two crank locating pins
![]() also, its a different offset! ![]() theres more to it.... this engine came with a spacer! here she is ![]() ive never seen or heard of this before |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
Some of the earlier blocks had a wider rear flange.( Specifically the 4.8s and 6.0s ) The difference had to do with the varying GM transmission dimensions. The short flange cranks are compatible with all transmissions...Whereas the wider flanges aren't....So you would to try and get one with a short flange since you can buy spacer kits if need be...

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
89?
Petro, i know all about the cranks and the flanges... ive just never seen one come with a spacer, nor with a flywheel that isnt offset. for my swap, it goes crank > flexp > spacer, this engine is crank > spacer > flex. thats what is weird to me ![]() Last edited by LS2Sonoma : 10-02-2009 at 08:42 PM. Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
due to the lack of posts, ive decided that im not going to update my thread anymore
just kidding, heres a few pix from this weekend started priming the bottom of the frame ![]() put some braces in the back for the shock mounts... its not pretty, but its not about cosmetics at the moment. right now, i need to focus on getting this beast together and drivable for the spring! i also finally ripped out my rear left spring bushings... had to drill the rubber out, what a pain ![]() and for fun, i tore my buddy's 6.0L apart all the way, everything looks real nice inside... not so much on the outside ![]() off to the machine shop she goes! |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
yup
and theyre not cheap lol its ok cuz i dont need much still not sure what brake lines i want. its between two kinds. polyvinyl fluoride coated lines or cupro nickel.. leanin more towards nickel lines the nickel lines are pretty much the best you can buy. wont rust, guaranteed for life... but the poly lines are black lol anybody use either of those? |

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
Looking good man. You should check into the SC&C stage 2 kit for G-bodies before you replace anything on your front suspension. It's a good deal and it corrects the crappy geometry of the stock setup.

Re: LS2 Re - Build; Beware 56K!
alright, so this just in.... i guess ill start by stating that ive had my a/c equipment since i started my swap in 05. i had bought an ls1 pump, which didnt fit. then i bought an ls6 pump which was broken during shipping. by the time i got the replacement my engine was already in and half the front end together, so when my notch was too small, i just left it without a/c.
now that my notch is awesome, guess what............. the pulleys dont line up!!!!!!! oh my god, now what!!?!¿! i cant shim the pump forward at all... maybe the balancer is falling off? lol its TWO TEETH out so WTF aftermarket balancer might be the problem but how do i find out? order a new one? ugh so whats the deal, should i figure out this a/c problem or go another year without my beloved a/c??? anyway, away from the boring part and onward with ENGINE PIX!! ![]() ![]() ![]() just test fitting for now, wanna make sure my trans lines are made right so ill have the trans in there in a few days ps. my exhaust is huge, i cant put my passenger side upper control arm in with the header there lol |
