Lightbulb Ls2?

So I've come to the conclusion that putting an LS1 into an S10 just might not be enough. Since the LS1 has been phased out and replaced by the LS2 I've been wondering if anyone else has looked into this swap. I know that the LSX blocks are closely related, but if someone out there has any light to shed on the subject it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Ls2?

I plan on an LS2 in my '91 for the next time its driveable, and eventually a 1200hp twin turbo LS2

The LS1 will be plenty. LS1 vs LS2 is basically a difference of bore sizes (3.90 vs 4.00) Especially when you can get 500hp with just a head and cam swap withthe LS1.
Why dont you think it will be enough??

I think we all had that plan a few times, and none of us have it.

I agree ls2 isn't much over the ls1 but if you can get one then get it. Just don't pay up the butt for it. To whoever has that turbo idea why not look into a single procharger they can produce unbelievable hp numbers.

Re: Ls2?

The point that I was trying to get to is that a handful of people have LS1's in the 2nd Gen S10's. But to stand out with an LS2 would be something different. I have access to a motor and tranny out of a GTO but im confused about the install because of the wiring and fitment changes.

Your not going to stand out, everyone is going to think its an LS1. Your going to tell them its an LS2, and they say "Oh, OK cool"

And the price difference between an LS1 and an LS2 right now are rediculous.

It would be way smarter to just drop in a cheaper LS1 and call it an LS2. Not like there is a huge difference. Save yourself some cash. Power per dollar will be 100% better with an LS1.

Ive said this 100 times: Being different is overrated, being different just means youve spent your money less wisely.

Or, Get an all aluminum 6.0 LQ9 from a caddy or something similar, and put and LS6 intake on it, and BAM, LS2 for half the price.

Re: Ls2?

an ls1 would be cool and an ls2 even cooler but ls7 that is what needs to be done. then you will stand out.

either go big or go home!

but is this in a 2wd or 4wd? and are you thinking auto or man? and streetable or pure racer?

Re: Ls2?

The dif between the LS2 and the LS1 is ya that the LS2 is a 6.0L and the LS1 is a 5.7, and the LS2 intake flows a little better than the LS1 but worse than the LS6, the LS2 takes a 90mm throttle body, LS1 is a 78mm, heads flow better and most of the sensors are different. BUT if you take a LQ4 or LQ9 block, which are also 6.0L blocks but are steel instead of aluminum and you can bore out where as the aluminum LS2 block you have to resleeve, and bolt a set of LS2/LS6 heads on it, with a ported LS2 intake, you are already up to the 450 horse mark through in a cam and a good tune bam 500 ponies, and the good thing about the LQ4 and LQ9 blocks are that they take all same the same sensors as the LS1 blocks, which are alot cheaper at the moment. Sorry for the long post.....
