Re: LS1Edit
I've been looking into it. I've got a 03 S10 Crew with Powerdyne sc. As it stands Carputing does not have the cable hook up for in truck programming so you have to get another cable for Spear tech another 130.00 or so. I actually ordered the LS1 but held off when they replied about the extra cable...I've been trying to find others with S10's that has edit but get little response.
I know a guy that had his edit done by Bill Mach and the truck flies!!! But it was a mail order tune... I plan on doing more work and additions to my truck so I didn't want to get a mail order unless I was thru with mods... E mail me direct seayahawaii@hawaii.rr.com maybe we can come uo with some ideas or group purchase... |

Re: LS1Edit
By the way the cost is 550.00 less 100.00 discount...plus additional cable 130.00 for now....You can get mail orders for 2-300.00

Re: LS1Edit
I;ve got it. Paid $450. It's not hard to make changes. Knowing why to change something takes some research and watching your sensors with autotap or something. If it doesn't sound too bad to you I would say you should get it especialy if your running boost.

Re: LS1Edit
Sounds like a lot to spend. I mean I realize it is adjustable. All my major mods will be in soon and then there will be nothing else to add. If I could get a mach reflash for 300 i think I may take that but I heard they were more expensive.

Re: LS1Edit
For my 2001 it came with the cable that plugs into the obd2 port under the dash.I don't think $450 is so bad becaause the superchip I had was $300. If your running boost you need to be able to adjust youe timing. The big advantage will be when more 4.3l owners get it and start sharing like they do on the ls1 forums.

Re: LS1Edit
Mach reflash is more like 500.00 but others do a reflash for 250.00 and up...

Re: LS1Edit
LS1 edit is by far the way to go. if you guys give them enough requests, maybe hptuners will make one for the s10 also. as for the mach tune, good luck getting any adjustments if it isn't right.

Re: LS1Edit
Although it helps to get programming I'm running a completely stock ecu.
If you have an auto its almost a must to remove torque management and catlyst overtem protection, BUT decent times are possible without it. Last edited by s10rz350 : 08-30-2004 at 02:05 PM. |

Re: LS1Edit
I think maybe me and my buddy can share and that will help with the cost. He has a vette and he's gonna need a tune because he's doing heads and a cam like me. Perhaps will split it. I have an O3 so it's good to know it will work. Especially if mach reflash is 500 and I can get the LS1edit for 450.

Re: LS1Edit
I figured that much but it would help cut cost. I'll have to look into it a little more.

Re: LS1Edit
The cable has a box in the center of it and I think that is what locks on your vin the first time you do a flash not a read. I read somewhere that you have to send them your cable and $150 to make so you can use it on another truck, like if you wanted to sell it.

Re: LS1Edit
If I'm not mistaken, the trucks use a different version of LS1 Edit than the cars do, but not positive. I had asked a while back to see if I could get one version that would work for my 03 Blazer and my 02 Vette and they had said something to the effect of "You just need to purchase 2 stand alone set-ups".

Re: LS1Edit
i've had some pcm programming work done for me on work i've done. there are many companies to look into like westers garage, pcmforless, mti, fastchip, nelson performance, prescribed power, etc. personally i'd recomend ed wright at fastchip or bryan herter at pcmforless. both have done work for me and have done an excellent job.

Re: LS1Edit
I almost went with Bryan at pcmforless. he's really a nice guy and very helpful. I live in Hawaii so if something was wrong with the mail order tune my truck would be down for awhile so I decided to try my hand at programming. Even if I screw up I can put it back to what it was so I ordered it, probably be here in a few days. I probably will keep adding parts to my truck so I would have to wait till I'm al done to ge the best mail order tune. But the flip side is that some of these guys are real experienced in tuning so that's a big plus....

Re: LS1Edit
for you guys considering LS1 edit. since there isn't a place that i know of for it on this board, i'm also a moderator at silveradoss.com and we have a place for pcm tuning. if you have questions, stop on in and ask away. we have plenty of guys very familier with the software that can help you out.
