Re: LS1 Swap

most people are going to recommend doing a search on this forum first to gather some info so you at least have a general idea....then ask a more specific question.

your question is very vague......your gonna need money first of all, to buy an ls1, accesories, computer, wiring, transmission, exhaust of some type, you need to cool it, you need to mount it, you need to make it fit, ask something more specific maybe?

Re: LS1 Swap

I know it involves moving the firewall back a good bit,... like 3-4 inches I think (correct me if I am wrong), New motor mounts, etc,....

so basicly you need a general idea of what you are doing,.... else you are gonna end up with something that warrants all kinds of what the f*ckery,....

Re: LS1 Swap

Moving the firewall is optional, not required. But the frame will have to be notched if you want A/C. Also, either some extensive oil pan work will have to be done, or the crossmember will have to be clearanced and boxed. I have heard that JTR or some other company was going to make oil pans for the swap so that may be an option.

There's a lot of work involved in an LS1 swap. Everything from the wiring harness / PCM program to the engine mounts will have to be customized by you or someone you pay to do it. There are easier routes to swap in a V8 (LT1, Vortec 350, etc). but they may not be what you want. It's awfully hard to argue against the performance and features of the LS1, it even gets great fuel economy.

Re: LS1 Swap

Be prepared to spend alot of time and money. Very complicated swap and very expensive. If your going with a T56 (6 speed) you dont even have to touch the firewall. Just cut the two ears off the top of the bellhousing and thats that.
