Just for the helluva it I'll show you what a buddy of mine paid to swap an LS1 into his v6 camaro, will show you roughly whats needed and the prices of the parts.

engine/tranny/PCM blah blah $3000
used steering rack $100
used radiator $80
used gauge cluster $50
used engine cradle $35
used gas pedal $25
used airlid (aftermarket) $70

total price in parts needed: $3,365
Also will need an allignment after your done and of course the extra $$$ if you have a shop do it.

For the S-10, you'll need a fuel pump and lines, exaust, fans, MAF sensor, 02 sensors, driveshaft. Maybe a few small things I'm forgetting but this is the bulk of it.

it depends on if you do it yourself or not. i'd say at least 6-7 grand depending on your year engine and tranny and if you get some else or do it yourself.

v6marofl, i go to fsu too. are you in TMCA?

No actually I haven't moved there yet, I'll be up there in a couple weeks for fall semester. I'm not in the muscle car association but it sounds like something worth looking into.

Not including the truck we put about 6k-7k in parts. And thats with making out own harness and keeping the stock manifolds.

do you think a stock 4.3 radiator would work?

Well the reason we took measurements and didnt just order one from a company that does conversions is because there isnt much room in front. So we took measurements and ordered one that fits in the radiator core support, not behind. SO we had room for the intake and fans.

Me Personally would never buy one off the computer, especially used. You never know what your getting. Im not saying there arent good ones out there I just wouldnt take the chance. If you dont want to buy them in a crate from the dealer do what we did. Find a crashed F-Body, or Vette if you can. You could buy the whole car for 3k, well depending on the mileage and condition.

Camaros and Firebirds are F-Bodies. Find one close by and if you dont know someone with a trailer, youll have to get it trailered or towed to your house

well, i bought mine off of ebay. paid right at 4 with shipping. its a 2000 TA with 45K. it also has the t56. you can get one a little cheaper if you get the auto.

peko, could you give me some measurements you used? i haven't put the engine in yet but i need to go ahead and order some parts.

Battery is in the stock location, And I see everyone taking there front end off. We took the hood off and thats it. I think Lees High Tech may be coming out with a supercharger for the LS1/S10 conversion. But ill tell you that there isnt alot of room at all.,

not like you need it right? with the super charger you would need new tires every night So how much did the whole job cost you? from start to finish in cluding everything, even the LS1 mods.

Truck and everything. About 10k. Again we saved about $1,500 - $2,000 on the harness and headers since we used the stock manifolds and made the harness. And we work at a GM dealer so get the parts for cheap.

pretty good. still waiting on the harness to come back. I can't put the pass manifold on until I get the wiring . got all of the drivers side completed (steering, manifold, plugs, wires, fuel, brakes, throttle, cruise...) maybe it will come in this week and I can start it this weekend sometime.

I thought about it but I wanted alot of stuff bypassed like the vats and I wanted to be able to use all the factory gauges (late model has class 2 serial data gauges) and he re wires the harness to a 4 wire hookup plus your a/c and fans.

no reprogramming is required with this harness . I still have the pcm.$385 and ship him the harness. for that price, I had to give it a try!

98 harnesses are completly different. you can pypass alot of stuff easier . thats why alot of wiring companies only sell 98 harnesses. T.P.I.S. thought they were all the same until I ordered one back in 2000 for my blazer and tried to hook it up on a 99! half of the connectors are different and the pcm connectors are in different places. hell, they had hot wires going where ground wires were suppose to be. on the pcm. I called them and they had no clue they were different. thats why it took painless so long to come out with their harness.

Honestly it isnt that complicated. Did you see the pics of the Conversion in the 59 Cadillac? Thats a brand new GM crate motor and the harness was made by my buddy. The harness for the S10 took about a week, and the Cadillac maybe a little longer. Just open the repair manuals and start splicing
