LS1/LT1 Transplant Q

Alright, so I have pretty much decided I am going with an LS1 or an LT1. Can they bolt up to the blazer 4L60-E Tranny or is the Camaro one any different? Also other that the engine what would be the approximated expense of transplanting an LS1 , would an LT1 be any cheaper/ easier to put in?

Yeah, the LT1 is the easier/less expensive swap of the two since you can pretty much use the normal SBC engine mounts and headers. The LT1 should bolt up to the 4L60E tranny in your blazer, but be careful that you don't break it. It may be a good idea to swap the 4L60E from an Fbody or one from a full size truck if you're running a 4x4. I'm pretty sure the trans won't bolt up to an LS1.

I think the LS1 would mount up to but i believe you need to change the bellhousing. Dont quote me on that.

You cant change the bellhousing on 4l60e trannys or on gm automatic that I know of, for about the last 40 years anyways

Re: LS1/LT1 Transplant Q

Since we're on the subject I was wondering, i have 95 caprice LT1 and i plan on using my 99 4L60e tranny, are the wiring components going to plug right in to the 99 tranny if i get the harness for a 95 LT1? And do you know if i'll need to change the bell housing? - Joe
