LS1 into RX7!!!
Since all of this nonsense happened, I have fallen in love w/ the RX7. I know that rotary is shit, so why not put an LSX into it. I saw several people on this site that had RX7s w/ LS1s. What does it take to do????

Re: LS1 into RX7!!!
That would be Hinson Supercars. They make a complete swap kit to install an LS1/6 speed into the RX7. The hardest part is buying a decent Gen 3 body that doesn't cost a fortune.

Re: LS1 into RX7!!!
when i used to have my rx7 i was looking into different swaps. One of my friends has one with a 302 in it. I recall reading that a bone stock ls1 in a 3rd gen rx7 runs somethin like a 12.5 on average.

Re: LS1 into RX7!!!
You can also get some info on this swap at www.torquecentral.com
There are a few companies that make parts, and it's actually not that bad of a swap from what I understand. Low 12's and 30 mpg on the highway are pretty standard for a stock LS1. A big cam and bolt ons will get you low 11's fairly easily. There are a few pretty serious LS1/RX7's in Indy. I think one trapped ~138mph w/cam, bolt ons, and spray. The 50/50 weight distribution isn't harmed by the swap either. Probably one of the best all around swaps out there right now, and FC's are dirt cheap. |
