lS1 exaust manifolds are hitting steering shaft need help

i have removed the heatshild, and they are still hitting, for anyone whos has done this swap alrady how did you get around this problem, thanks a bunch!!

have you moved the column any ? how bad is it hitting ?

The easiest solution is to run headers for the LS1 V8 swap.
JTR/Stealth sells headers for the LS1 V8 swap.

has anybody seen these headers? they have just become available in the past few months. i wish they were bigger though. does it loop around the steering shaft?

You will need to move your steering column over about 3/4 to 1 full inch to get around that clearence issue. That may be a little more then needed but you have to remember the "torque factor" that amount should give you the room needed.

You can also use the Ford F-150 steering shaft to improve clearance at the steering joint, if you're swapping into a 1st gen S10.

iv moved my engine over to the passanger side more since i got the JTR mounts, gives me about 1/4 of clearance now, and if i use the f-150 shaft like L31 said maybe i can get anouther 1/4, thanks for all yalls help

Didnt have to move the column on either truck. The 96 or 01. The 96 has 98 TA manifolds with the heat shield cut off and the steering shaft wrapped in heat wrap because it is very close, But still doesnt hit even when the engine twists. The 01 Xtreme im not sure what the drivers side manifold is from but that doesnt hit either. And both trucks are using the Lee's mounts.
