I see current performance has a relocation bracket for air cond compressor if this is used along with correct oil pan will that eliminate the need for any mods to crossmember
I don't know of any oil pan I would count on for sure, that does not require mods to the crossmember/K member, whatever you want to call it on these trucks. The H3 pan hangs down, period, unless your on a Blazer, and even then, it may. It may or may not fit without notching the back. The Holley pan does not hang down, but again, is VERY close. Some guys get it in without, some don't. If the truck has a/c, at minimum, you have to notch the a/c box so the engine can sit back far enough. I would also grind on the slot of the motor mount a little to get the engine to sit back a little farther, just to help aid the clearance of the oil pan if your trying to make it fit without a notch. My point is, I wouldn't spend a bunch of $ and time "planning" on it fitting without modifying, unless you have a great plan "B".
Thanks i have an 01 xtreme i understand the suspension is better suited for ls swap And the trans is a 4l60e which can be built up to handle extra hp and torque or new trans. just trying to get a feel for what i may run into for this build I heard current performance was a good company for accessories for build? ever use them
Don't take this wrong, but read the stickys. A lot of what your looking for information on, is there. The 4.3 trans, is different than a LS. I mean, they are both 60e's, but there is more to it, than a name.
Current Performance is one of the best companys to deal with for these swaps. Jared is specific to S10 platform, not every GM ever made. I have dealt with him, and purchased from him, and have nothing but great things to say about him, his products, knowledge, and customer support, and trust me, I don't say that very often, about any one/company.
Let's see,
Wrong connectors on the O2 sensors, wrong connectors on the oil pressure sender, wrong connector on the temp gauge sending unit, didn't wire in the ABS unit, didn't have power on the ecu, dash gauges not working, and finally, the a/c relay isn't getting power. I had to send the harness back and they "fixed" the ABS wiring and power to the ecu. The other issues, they said just cut off the connectors and splice in the correct ones. I got the dash working by bypassing the drac module, bought sensors to fit the harness connectors for the O2 sensors and oil pressure sender and the temp gauge sender, but had to machine the sender and rethread it as it was too large for the outlet in the head. Haven't sorted the issue with the A/C yet. I may be forgetting something, read through my build thread if you'd like. Mine is a first gen, so that may not be in their expertise.
That's no Bueno... Hope I don't have those issues with this one. Too early to tell but I'm not cutting or splicing anything given what I paid for the harness.
