Re: LS engine oil pans - all of them

if anyone has their engine bay empty maybe they could make some measurements of where the block sits in relation to the crossmember with the mounts being used. it would give others an idea of how much would need to be cut, if any at all.

Re: LS engine oil pans - all of them

Oil pan fit is not good at all so it forces us to cut up the front cross member way to much. I hope one of these pans will atleast reduce the ammount of choping up the front crossmember we need to do.

I need to do the swap soon so this information is important. Thanks for the post. Now all we need is for someone to figure out which one is the best fit for our S10's.

I expect I'll probably have a problem with the depth of the sump anyway because my truck sets 4in lower now.

What engine and frame are you using? The turbotime pan fits my syclone (4x4 S10 frame) just fine as long as you the engine mounts that go with them. I have pics if you need to see the fit.

Thanks Will. My sig has it all. 4.3 v6 two wheeler with JTR motor mounts 2.8/4.3 combo. I read a little later on in another thread that Hummer3's V8 oil pan fits our two wheelers frame without having to chop up the front crossmember. Maybe Santa will get this grampa's swap done...ready to roll for the new year.

Re: LS engine oil pans - all of them

I happen to see a oil pan like this at a swap meet yesterday,...

And was wandering it the wing part was far enough back? (It probably will not work but was just wandering.)

Also how about some thing like this.....http://www.drysump.com/pan1a.htm
It would probably cost more but was just wandering.

Thanks guys!

Well I thought that would be the case. O well. And yes it does look cool. Kind of like a space craft.

Has Anyone Figured Out The Measurments Needed For Clearance Of The Crossmember? Will The H3 Pan Work? Which One Would Require The Least Amount Of Cutting?

My h3 pan didn't require any cutting of the crossmember.

2.8 frame mounts

so it does work very well?becuase my truck is a2wd and it's drop like 2/3 on top of the zq8 and I don't want to hit things with the oil pan.
can you post the exact part numbers for the whole h3 pan set up,because I am ready to order it.

if you have a drop then this pan isn't for you. The pan hangs down past the x-member

Re: LS engine oil pans - all of them

I think the ls2 pan is the best fitment in my opinion....yea, you need to notch a little but I dont think its that bad.On the blazers, all you have to do is heat up the crossmember and "bang bang" it in a little...lol
