lowering question

I know this should be in a different forum. WHat suspension setups are you guys running that have your trucks lowered and have 5.3's in them? I dont want to slam it, i just want a little lower and a little more firm. Something maybe like the zq8 setup.

Re: lowering question

What oil pan are you using? ZQ8 should be safe with a truck pan

Re: lowering question

I had spindles and custom rear leafs so I could still use my truck like a truck for a 2/3 drop.

Truck was dirty but I don't care. It had an iron 6.0 and 4l80e before the accident.

Re: lowering question

Ive been leaning towards the zq8 springs. The truck is a daily driver and I want to keep it that way. I have noticed that with the added wieght of the v8, the front end wants to bounce a little.

Re: lowering question

I tried many different setups on my front end. The best ride and handling is with the Spohn lower controls and QA1 coilovers. It is very expensive but you get ride height and firmness adjustment. In my opinion, the next best setup is the ZQ8.

I know all about coil overs, I have those on the front and rear of the cobra. I think I will go with the ZQ8 stuff. I dont want a low rider, more of a sport truck. The way the roads suck around here, i need a little bit of suspension travel.

Thanks for all of the info.

Re: lowering question

you can also go with any g-body (80s monte carlo, cutlass) springs.

hotchkis makes a 600in/lb spring that is supposed to lower a monte 1"..with the added weight of the v8 if you have an iron block it should be pretty close to that. if you have an all aluminum ls1 just use a v6 zq8 b/c the all aluminum motor is roughly same weight as all iron v6. the only down side is that you are adding that same weight a little farther forward..but you shouldnt be able to feel the difference
