Re: Just about done! pics inside.

yeah its a T70, it spools fast, and makes boost right away. it really seems to choke the engine down after about 4800 RPM though.

think you might go with a bigger turbo? or you could bore the one you have...

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

Right now there is no plan to change or mod the turbo. I'm not a big fan of hitting the rev limiter anyway. I'm shifting at 4200-4500 so that I can stay on top of the torque curve.

I don't know what will happen when I turn the boost up, But I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

Little update guys:

What I said before about the turbo choking out the engine was not correct. It turns out that I was running WAY Lean when in boost.

Also, I got my rear end put together with the truetrak and 308's. It runs great on the highway --- 2150 RPM at 70. Not quite as low as I wanted, but it got me 22 MPG on a recent 800 mile trip.

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

How tall are the tires on that? That is almost hard to believe it is at 2150@70mph, sounds like my 3:42's with a slipping trans....

I think he said it has a 4L80 in it... OD ratio is different than a 4L60E.

My 4L60E with 31" tire and 3.73s runs around 2000RPM at 70MPH

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

Yes, I've got the 4L80, it has a 0.80 OD compared to the 0.70 in the 60s. (I think that's right.)

Also, My tires are 315 35 R17. Comes out to a little less than 25".

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

What trim is your turbo???

I have an .82 a/r exhaust side, .70 a/r charge side.
It spools fast, but no WAY chokes it out.

Also, i like spinning 1600RPM @ 75mph.... YAY for a t56.

Truck looks nice though~

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

I honestly don't remember the exact specs on the turbo, and as stated above, the problem that I initally thought was the turbo choking the engine turned out to be a fuel/tune issue.

1600 @75 = what, 30 MPG or more, Thats awesome man. But does it actually cruise at that RPM, or does it seem to lug a little?

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

No luggin at all. The turbo spools JUST enough to make it cruise nicely. I'm not tuned yet though, i'm runnin around 11.5 AFR cruising... gotta lean that out, i'm only gettin around 20mpg right now.

I may have exagerated... i think this afternoon i looked at it again, and it might be 1600 at 70mph. My speedo was off a tiny bit (took out the gps today and checked)

I wouldn't be surprised. I seen his turbo and it's very small for a single v8 setup. I think it's a t3/t4, must spool lightning fast though.

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

just a little update here guys.

I got the tune worked out so that I'm running around 11.8 AFR while in boost. and I turned the boost on up to 8PSI.

The 308s really hurt me power wise. When I had the 342s, I could literally feel the front end lift a couple of inches when I'd step on it.

Also, with the Truetrak, I get bad wheel hop unless I'm going at least 30 before I get on it good.

I'm also having problems with the CPW radiator leaking. I've not contacted Jared directly yet, so I don't know what the outcome will be on that.

Re: Just about done! pics inside.

Hey, glad you're working things out.

As mentioned before, i have a t70 turbo, and it spools perfectly. Full bost around 3k rpm (7psi). No boost when cruising though, that's silly, and HECK NO it's not a t3/t4 haha, who said that?

26.7" tire, 1600rpm @ 75mph. with 3.73's!
I need some Caltracs though.

Got any videos of her yet?

someone else had the same problem. I guess AFCO or whoever makes these for Jared had a bad batch go out. make sure you don't damage it while removing it or it may be questioned why it's defective. Call Jared, he'll help you out best.
