Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
what did yall pay for the engine/computer stuff/andtranny? i work at a body shop that maily fixes totals from wholesellers and i can get an ls1 with 6 speed and low miles for under 3000, does that sound like a good deal?

Red... Are you having anymore problems with the harness? TOm had to re-do basically the whole thing.. Its finally working without any problems.

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
not really. wish he would have made the wires going to the starter a little bit longer so i could route them a little bit further from the manifold, but other than that its been good. why did tom have to redo it? what exactly was wrong with it?

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
A/C compressor was engaged at all times, the fans were running at all times, some of the coil wiring was backwards, so tom re-did everything his way. Fans are turned on by the pcm now. Just little things.

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
What was the issue with the A/C being on all the time? As for the fans, at that time, Lee was in charge of the orders and computer programming, and he didn't know anything about that computer being able to run the fans, so he told me to just put a trigger wire in which would receive a ground from a temp sensor to turn the fans on. As for the coils... damn. I knew about Red's, but I didn't know anyone else had a problem. That just tells me I need to add some more quality checks, I'm sorry guys, but I wish somoene called or emailed me instead of having to read it here. So, you had to run the trigger wire to the ECM for the fans, do something to the A/C wiring at the UBEC, and move some coil wires around in the ECM. For these things Tom "re-did everything"? Was there anything else? |

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
my trigger wire is to the ecm and i still can't get them to come on
. i think i'm gonna kill my computer. after that i'm gonna kill my heater core. remember i told you that i had some smoke coming from the back of the engine because of coolant dripping down the firewall? i took the hoses off and both of the sleeves of my heater core were cracked. now i have to ubolt the dash to change this damn thing. i swear, if its not one thing its another ![]() btw, i'll give you a call later about the fans if i can't get them to turn on. |

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
Jarad i dont want you to think im bad mouthing you at all... Thats not the case. I really like your work. Tom is the brains and labor i just supply what help i can and the parts. I know little things he said he would have done different. Where you got the 5 volt refference he got from a different spot on the green one. But where you get it from is no big deal. As long as you get it. As for the exact problems ill ask him tomorrow and PM you if you want. I know he still has to wire the reverse inhibitor and little things here and there. Nothing major. Ill ask him tomorrow. And for the harness Jarad, This harness we got 2nd hand. Mike had this truck and ordered the harness for his swap but decided not to finish it so tom took the truck and all. So not sure to what specifications he had you build.

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
Okay brother, you just got to look at it from my end. I didn't know anything about these troubls, and then I read this. It kind of made me worry. I wish someone told me so at least I could try to help, I hope it wasn't anything that took up too much of Tom's time. I feel bad when my stuff has problems like that.

Re: I've started on my new ls1 project !
I understand. I was just putting the facts. Not trying to smash anything at all. He was going to make his own like he did with the green 96 but Mike already had yours with everything else. Again ill PM you tomorrow.
