It has begun 02 extreme with LS2 and 4L65E
Ok Guys I have gathered most all my parts build the engine and started my swap on my 69,000 mile 2002 S10 Extreme. I removed the front cap and pulled the engine and transmission last weekend. The short block is a 6.0 Ls2 out of a 2007 trailblazer had like 18,000 miles on it. I've put a 24 tooth reluctor crank in it out of 04 corvette a set of 6.125 callies compstar rods and a set of 4.05 mahle pistons should be about 10 1/2 to 1 compression. Texas speed MS3 cam, .080 wall pushrods and there springs, tit. retainers and locks. 04 Zo6 stage 1 243 heads with the light weight valves and 3 angle valve job ls6 ported oil pump. Ls6 intake stock ported 2000 camaro throttle body 42lb green top injectors the trans is a 4L65E out of a 06 goat shift kit and vette servo, with a yank 3400 stall lock up converter, current performance harness, brp engine, trans mounts, crossmember and their 1 3/4 long tubes. I have the engine and trans bolted in so far with the headers installed.

Re: It has begun 02 extreme with LS2 and 4L65E
You and me both and thanks. I've got a set of 3" stainless borla mufflers that I want to put on the truck and keep the 3" all the way out the back, have any of you guys seen this done with our swaps and do you think I will loose alot of low end with the big exhaust.

Re: It has begun 02 extreme with LS2 and 4L65E
Thanks guys for the compliments, I was thinking that if it does lose alittle low end from the exhaust it may be a good thing as this is going to be a daily driver and maybe it will help keep from frying the tires so easy. This has been in the works now for over 2 years gathering parts and information from great sites like this . My thanks goes out to all of the ones that has pioneered the swap and makes the parts that now makes it a lot easier to do than when I first thought about doing this. I could have been driving this thing long ago but as usual I have made many changes to my plans alone the way. As my title states it was first going to be a ext cab 95 dime with a stock LS1 and a six speed from a 2000 camaro that I bought. Then I bought a 2000 reg cab extreme which is now for sale, LS2 and 4L65e cam heads pistons rods and the list goes on and on, about 2 months ago the night befor I was going to start the tear down on the reg cab I decided that I really wanted to do this swap in a extended cab with all power. As I plan on keeping this thing for a long time. As soon as I bought the extended cab the swap began finally so now maybe I won't change my mind again and get it finished so the fun can begin. Please excuse the grammer and the spelling.

Re: It has begun 02 extreme with LS2 and 4L65E
Well not a good day in the shop today. Looks like the ls2 corvette ac compressor is not going to fit looks like i would have to notch the frame a good bit more to get it to fit so I think I will call jared and get the ac relocation kit. Also the steering shaft is hitting the bottom of the no5 header tube I can get the rag joint shaft to touch the bottom of the steering box shaft but thats it, its a hole shaft size to low. If I cut in a universal joint between no.5 and no.7 tube will I have to support the shaft to keep it from wobbling when I turn the wheel. And the tires is hitting the header tube that is outside the frame when I try and turn the wheels from lock to lock. It has stock wheels and tires so looks like I need to call BRP to see what they suggest. I did make a little progress I got the transmission lines installed and I also got my fuel filter installed and the fuel line run and hooked to the fuel rail. 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.

Re: It has begun 02 extreme with LS2 and 4L65E
According to BRP you should not have any clearance issues with the tube running outside the frame with the stock 8"wide wheels/tires. You even used their mounts so definately hit them up.
That's the only reason I would use thier exspensive mounts...too keep from having clearance issues since that is what they used when designing/fitting the headers. Good job, by the way. Looks really good. now we need some vids of it running |

Truck looks great. Keep us updated on what it takes to get the headers to fit. Been considering these for a while for my truck...

Looks like I may have to send my headers back to headman to have them modified. Man what a set back I was hoping to be tuning on this thing during the thanksgiving holidays.

X4 CP Wire on the headers, and I really dont know about the power to the wheels I'm hoping about 400 to the wheels I know I'm pretty high with that no. but it dont hurt to wish does it. What do you think it will be.

Re: It has begun 02 extreme with LS2 and 4L65E
OK guys I am so pumped up right now I most likely will not get any sleep tonight. The LS2 has come to life, and man what little I could let it run it sure sounded good with the open headers. I dont have the front cap on it yet so I could not let it run but about 5 seconds It fired right up as sone as I hit the key and it came back down to a rough idle till I shut it off. I've got the power steering and alt, installed and the power steering lines hooked up from the original 4.3 just had to bend them alittle to make them work. Now I need to get the heater core lines hooked up and I should be able to install the front cap. I'm off all next week for thanksgiving so I should be able to drive by next weekend. I also got the steering shaft to clear the no. 5 header tube today. I had to notch the 2 bolt holes in the bracket on the bottom of the steering colume inside the cab so it would go as low as it could go and then I had to rebuild the shaft that hookes to the steering box with a smaller shaft. I am very pleased with the way it turned out. I will get pictures of it tommorow. Very good day in the shop today wish they all went this good.

www.intakehoses.com. The elbow I bought from there did the job to clear the fans for me.
