Intake? tb? oilpan? cam?

i was wondering if anyone has put the ls1 intake on there 5.3? i did today it doesnt seem to sit flush do to the some oil hardlines sitting under the intake. also the ls1 tb is way to close to the water pump. also if i keep the truck oil pan all i have to do is notch the frame correct? also i want a lil more hp out of the motor and since its on the engine stand, i would like to maybe add a nice cam/converter to give it some topend. i am very new to cam and cam swaps so any info would greatly appreciate it. i am reading alot on ls1tech, ls1truck, and on here as well. thanks louie......1st gen s10 5.3 swapped.

If you're on the Ls1 Truck forums there is a lot of posts on swaping the intake and the issues with doing it, The LS1 manifold is going to loose lower end power, which is what trucks need. That's the steam crossover line that is hitting the manifold bottom, the LS1 intakes use a differant one.

well thats just shitty. i heard it was a good upgrade. oh well i guess the cam is just gonna have to make up for it. i just joined ls1truck and have been reading on there as well but only saw the ls6 intake swap. on the pics it looks like the just bend that hardline a bit up front and cut and use regular hoses to reroute those hardlines.

Re: Intake? tb? oilpan? cam?

The LS1 intake does not make much more power than the truck intake and yes there are clearance issues. Those hardlines are collant passages that aid in getting air pockets out since they are the highest point for coolant in the engine. Some 5.3s had a large system of crossovers that went from front to back, the LS1 had caps in the rear and a crossover tube located on the front of the cylinder heads. To my knowledge you can get away with a truck water pump with the LS1 intake as long as you are cable throttle body, not DBW. Check out Texas Speed for cam stuff, they have a pretty all inclusive cam selection guide as far as telling you working RPM, horsepower gains, as well as if the cam will need things like pushrods or new springs.

Re: Intake? tb? oilpan? cam?

i am wanting to use the ls1 ported tb i got. but if all fails cant i just buy a spacer for the tb or should i just get an ls1 corvette waterpump. and for real i read a whole 60+ pages on how changing the intake made more power with dyno numbers and all but i can be wrong. read it on the ls1tech conversion and hybrid section. thanks for the cam info ill be lookin at that shortly.

If you use a vette waterpump then you'll have to use vette accessories...The LS1 intake is not as good as the LS6 intake. And FYI I've seen truck DBW TB used with the truck waterpump...

Re: Intake? tb? oilpan? cam?

Put the truck intake back on.The truck intake flows 10 times better than the ls1 intake.
