inspection in nc says no???

ok i was planning on doing a 5.3 swap in my truck and paying a shop to do it but they were worried it that they couldnt inspect it so he gave me the # to my countys inspector
i call the guy and he says i cant have it inspected b/c my truck was never offered w/ that kind of motor
is the inspector wrong and how do i handle this

Re: inspection in nc says no???

i think that is wrong. va has some strict rules but they will pass it here. go to the state police. the state police here is who we go to ask questions about swaps.

Re: inspection in nc says no???

Your best solution is to contact a person at the DMV:

NCDMV's Customer Service Office 919-715-7000

As to be transferred to the department that is responsible for answering questions regarding engine swaps or custom cars.

This person will be able to answer your questions.

If this type of swap can be done in the "Republic of California" and be emissions legal, it can be done anywhere

Re: inspection in nc says no???

There are places that will "pass" your car for a fee. I was in the same situation with my car when I lived in NC. Wrong engine in the car and illegal tint. I payed 45.00 to a guy and my car got registered.

Let me try and find the name of the place I went.

That's fucking retarded. So they wont even inspect your truck because it's got a more efficient engine in it? GAY. If it's better for the environment, that's as far as they should care.

Re: inspection in nc says no???

Im not an expert on the inspection, but have always heard that as long as EVERYTHING is hooked up as far as emission stuff, and they check it like it was in the original car/truck,there should not be any problems, hell, if cali can do a swap and pass a test, I would have thought anyone could!
