Angry Help out guys. Fuel line related

I started my project about a week ago. 1997 4.3 ex cab 2wd sonoma. Going in is an '01 5.3 40000 miles on it, this too came out of a 2wd.

Truck is freshly painted so extra care is being taken.

I have searched on this and have no answers. 3 fuel lines are coming from the tank. Supply, Return and EVAP.

Then newer engine is a truck intake style. maybe i am brain humping this but, Do I have to run the Corvette filter/regulator cant i just hook 3/8 to3/8 and 5/16 to 5/16 and call it a done deal. I am not understanding this please help me

I just did the fuel system on my truck. I put a 2002 5.3L into my 1993 s-10. The 5.3L had the regulator on the fuel rail, there was a supply and a return fuel rail. I replaced the stock fuel filter with a like model - supply in, supply out. Ran the fuel line from the fuel filter supply out to the fuel rail supply in (3/8" line). Then I ran the return fuel rail line to the existing return line. Clear as mud?

These lines connect to the stock fuel hard lines after the fuel filter - 3/8" for supply, 5/16" for return.

The regulator is barely visible in this picture, its under the rubber hose.

Re: Help out guys. Fuel line related

Hmm, the rail that came on my 05 5.3 didn't have any return line. So I guess that year they ran something similar to the corvette filter/reg.

The older 5.3L's had a different fuel rail than the newer 5.3L's from what I was told, so you would be correct.

Interested on what you did with the third line (EVAP)?

I left my evap open and no problems yet. I ran the corvette filter though since i had a 2004 fuel rail.

I am pretty new to this, when you say open you literally just disconnected it near the filter and left it that way?

If you leave the evap line open it will allow gas to evaporate out. You should plug it somehow or connect it to the intake on the truck manifold.

Re: Help out guys. Fuel line related

let me clarify real quick. when i say connect it to the manifold, i mean the stock evap line. Do not just run it into the intake. Pretty sure you knew that just wanted to make sure someone else reading this would understand.
