Having Problems With Current performances motor mounts

First off I would like to thank everyone who helped on my first thread.

My Real question is has anybody ran into Current performance motor mounts that the bolt wont come out of. i ended up getting it out but it seems as though some of the rubber didnt make it out of the bolt hole like it got really hot or something . it was like this on both mounts. will this cause a problem?
I doubt it will. but just asking.

Also mounting the motor mounts long part foward on both sides and Chopping off the bottom hole for clearance I cannot get the driver side hooked to the block. I don't know exactly what I'm doing wrong. Maybe I should have mounted the motor mount to the block first and the bottom half to the frame and then set it in? Im not exactly sure whats up. Insight please.

Re: Having Problems With Current performances motor mounts

I just had to do this, i could not get them mounted in the lower slotted holes and i cut those off... I just had to fight it and work it with a lil lube and it went thru... the problem i had is i could start it on one side but it would not come thru the other... i took a screw driver and pressed on the rubber to the direction i needed it to go and it went right thru.

You may need to enlarge the one hole, not on an ls swap, but I have had to do that on a couple of "normal" v8 mounts.

Re: Having Problems With Current performances motor mounts

Among our new products is a complet eredesign of the moutns as well.
The mounts we have been selling are an exact duplicate of the Trans-Dapt mounts, but not stamped out so they aren't warped.

Problem is, they don't seem to fit the best for everyone, so we are making some design changes on those. Mainly just shortening up the stands.

As for the rubber 2.8L mount part, some of the rubber can end up in the holes during production, or perhaps when we modify them to fit the brackets. It's not going to hurt anything, but it can interfere with the bolt.

Re: Having Problems With Current performances motor mounts

Okay...
I just put a set of our latest batch of mounts on the truck I am working on now, and they fit fine...
They are higher then I would like, but we will be making changes for the next run, but anyone that has them now, this set is exactly the same, and they fit.

Of the folks having problems, did you fold over the pinch weld in the trans tunnel? I assumed everyone knew to do that, but maybe not.

Re: Having Problems With Current performances motor mounts

Jared,

The real problem was not bending the lip at all on the fire wall. I just Eliminated that problem by lifting the cab a little with some 2x4s on the cab mounts kinda like a mini lift kit that went fine. The problem i was having and I am not sure why was the passenger side mount fit fine. Bolts up correctly everywhere. The Drivers Side however was not so lucky. I really dont know what I did Differently I just mounted the bottom to the frame loosley for extra movement. Mounted the top half to the motor loosely. Literally got a 5ft prybar and gave it everything my 150 pound ass had to offer and it popped in. Wierd.

I really thought that the motor mounts were designed well I just don't really understand wtf problem was. but it is in and should be ok.

Thanks to everyone that helped with this thread.

When I installed my CP mounts on my 1993, the passenger side when in easily. However, like yours, I had to work the engine over just to get the bolt to start in the drivers side. Once it started, I threaded the bolt in with a ratchet and lifted the front/back with the engine hoist to get it through the back hole. I had the frame motor mounts tightened before installing the engine. Of course, I installed the engine and trans by myself. perhaps its easier with a second or third set of hands.

Now that its in, I don't think its going to move much and I'm definitely okay with that.
