Finished LS1 swap

Finished my ls1 project today. This s10 is so fun to drive it should be illegal. I have some minor things to finish like blower and moving wires and trimming plastic. It is hard to get into reverse and when backing up for 100+ft the clutch really works you over. Car shows? Yes, I will be going to the hotrod super nationals and maybe the import truck bash. I think my passenger can tell you how the ride is. Is this a hard swap? yes to do it right. is it worth the money? To me yes.

Re: Finished LS1 swap

Yeah at this rate I believe people will be getting 2nd and 3rd owner ls1's pretty soon. Look at it this is the engine to have in all of motorsports. It gets great gas mileage for v8's, limitless horsepower, lightweight, aftermarket is catching up with the basic 350 parts(except they charge a ton for ls1), your stock gauges work on newer gm's. I don't know if you've been watching but boyd's had 3-4 lsx engines in his customs on TV. Powerblock TV has 3 right now on the TV plus the power adder shows on Horsepower and Trucks they've done in the past. Besides every new gm motor is going to be lsx for quite a long time with current engines being the 6.2 and the 7.0. Oh yes even spiderman drives a lsx powered vehicle.

Re: Finished LS1 swap

Late post for the night. Nope, not really don't care to modify the engine. Before doing and spending I though about the small twin turbo setup for 750 hp. After finishing the swap I really don't care to do it. Can you imagine the intercoolers setup it would work but the tubes would really look crazy and take a cowl. Not even counting all the engine upgrades it would take. Someone will do it I'm sure just not me. Maybe just heads springs covers and cam but not for awhile.

Years for stuff is

00 5.7l ls1 motor trans
not sure year maybe 2005 corvette ls2 oil pain screen dip stick
85-89 corvette radiator
2.8 motor mounts
99 camaro manifold
98+ corvette accessories
99 camaro fuel intank fuel pump with regulator

The 99 camaro parts have to be that year because manifold can be welded and I wanted a intank regulator.

Re: Finished LS1 swap

yes sir! that is sexy, got the same plans with a few minor bolt ons to run power up to bout 400hp and im good. Ever thought of doing a rear mounted turbo setup? No need for an intercooler and you wont take up any more room under the hood.

Re: Finished LS1 swap

yeah alot of $$$ I went from 2.2l 5speed to the ls1 t56. jared from current performance did the wiring harness and the only gauge that doesn't work is fuel it doesn't give the right reading. I'm sure its the wrong sending unit thats causing the problem. I plan to drive it for a week or two and then run the predator on it. Better get the ricer 5-point harness installed

The gauge shouldn't be off... what size is your tank? The Predator program is already installed, running it again isn't going to do anything unless you make changes.

I have check engine and secruity lights on. I need to run dianostic on it using the predator. The fuel gauge does move but it shows 3/4 tank when I had a full tank. I think its the 16 gallon tank and I'm using a camaro fuel pump unit. I guess my last message kinda sounds like I blame you for the bad reading guage. No the wiring harness has everything running great.

Re: Finished LS1 swap

okay, I can make an adjustment to the file for you and email it if you wanna pick up the serial cable to connect the Predator to your PC and a power supply. Just take the Predator to Radio shack and they can get you what you need.

how do the seats fit? does the headrest part of the seat hit the rear window? hows the legroom? i put some eclipse seats in mine, but they were too tall and the top pressed against the glass, therfore i had to sit too close to the wheel.

Yeah the seats set close too close for most people but I'm a short guy and the seats don't bother me. Anyone over 6ft tall knees are in there chest or the jammed in the dash. I want to make this clear for everyone doing the t56 your passenger seat may get in the way for reverse to the point that it won't go in or pops out. I have to hold it firmly to keep it in reverse.

8-10k for my swap

Summit Seats

Not Springfield, Missouri but Springfield, Illinois

http://familyevents.com/eventinfo.asp?id=82

Well, I can make one long trip this year cause gas might be going up again. Hell, $4.50/gallon and you'll have to drive to my neighborhood to see it. It's pretty wild where I live my neighbors have a bradley gt with maroon metal flake, there's two show quailty buggies, a red ford coupe, 3 miles down the road a chevelle with 400 trans and cream color leather interior, and then two guys are part of the dodge rumble bees club, The smartest of use has 2 05-06 his/hers true vespas.

The parts are all new. After thinking about it I thought what would the window sticker look like if GM made this engine an option. So, I made the sticker see you later colorado.

Re: Finished LS1 swap

Here's where the oil pan sets above the crossmember. I'm not sure how else to say you won't have to worry about damaging the pan. No, I did not modify the pan at all cause the cost of ls2 oilpan screen and dipstick is the same as buying a modified oil pan. Notice the drain plug hangs just about over the crossmember. When draining the oil I will have to place something under it so that I don't have a mess of oil on the crossmember and lines.

Yeah, um
No A/C
no cruise control
no heater
no cats
no erg
only 2 o2 sensors
crossmember was notched about a 1/2-1 inch
Rear end was a 7 5/8 went before the oil change.
Upgrading to a ford 9" 4.11 truetrac with disks.

Other than that engine and trans puts plenty of power to the ground. I've said this before a "M6 is an explosive you use to open up 10 bolts."

Re: Finished LS1 swap

yeah, i have been reading up on this, and you can purchase a plug and play harness that will allow you to keep all stock features, like a/c cruise, and even use your stock tach and speedo
