Couple of questions on my 5.3 swap

Ive been on this forum since 2003 mainly as a reader not a talker. I've read every inch of the lsx section and also a lot on ls1tech. I'm getting ready to start my own swap and need some insight and advice from people who have done it. I just picked up a 2004 5.3 with the 2wd 4l65e still mated to it and got a killer deal cause the intake was sold off of it and the crank pullley was chipped a little. its going in my bagged 2003 s10 thats a full on show truck but still a driver. i plan on using the ls2 oil pan cause the truck is bagged and lays frame and im also wanting to go the corvette route for the looks and i scored a free ls1 intake and fuel rail off a 98 camaro from a friend. my question is will the ls2 or ls1 drive acc. bolt right up to a 5.3? i'm looking at buying this kit from pace and using the ls2 water pump and balancer. http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...l=&strCompare=

Also i know people use the 2.2 fuel pump with no problem but can i use my 4.3 pump with a corvette filter/regulator? the motor will be all stock besides the obvious headers/intake. also any weak points to the motor/tranny i should address before i install it? not looking for power just reliability
thanks for all your help. i will post pics of the truck and parts soon.

Yes all the accessories are interchangeable. An LS is an LS. I believe the 2.2 pump that people use with v8's is the flex fuel version. Otherwise I would just score a walbro 255 or a generic ebay pump.

as long as you use the correct ac and powersteering pump from the vette accessorys. the pullys are shorter and the truck stuff wont align, i beleve you need an 07+ truck waterpump or a vette wp as well.

yea if i went with the vette acc. it would be everything including crank pulley so it should all line up. I just read on another forum that there is one hole you have drill and tap in the 5.3 to get one of the brackets to work. Also on the fuel pump i heard the walbro's are kinda crap and no better than a factory bosch or delco pump

Re: Couple of questions on my 5.3 swap

My mechanic looked up the fuel pump for my 01 blazer and said it was more than enough for mild V8. Im staying with factory pump as well.

Re: Couple of questions on my 5.3 swap

you can use the truck accesories with the ls1 intake but some stuff has to be changed if you go the corvette route all pulleys brackets and the waterpump has to be changed. i just keep my truck pulleys and bought a idler pulley relocation bracket saved alot of money

Re: Couple of questions on my 5.3 swap

Thanks thats what i wanted to know on the fuel pump. Also, will i have to replace the truck coils with the vette coils to put the vette FRC on, and are the f-body coils the same as the vette? I'm planning on just buying all the vette acc. and selling of the truck ones anyway. PM me if anyone is intrested. i have a full set of truck acc., and truck coils if i need to get different ones. there will also be a truck oil pan for sale soon.

Re: Couple of questions on my 5.3 swap

The truck coils will clear the FRCs and are more powerful than LS1 coils. Check out my build thread for the video.
