battery relocation help

hey i'm putting my batter in my bed, from there I need to run a ground to the frame, and a positive to the starter and fuse box right?

i've only ever done any wiring on older cars that only needed the cable going to the starter so i'm double checking that I need the positive going to both places.

Re: battery relocation help

Positive cable needs to go to the starter and a different 10-12 guage to the backside of the alternator. Or loop it however you choose.

The Negative needs to be grounded straight to the frame then another from the frame to the engine at the front.

I dont need one to the fuse box then, even if there was one originally?

Re: battery relocation help

My battery is in the rear. One ground cable, straight to frame from battery. Engine has a ground strap to the frame.

Positive goes up front, and T's off. One side goes to the starter, other side to alternator.

ALternator also has one more cable that hops over to the fuse box.

Re: battery relocation help

175amp enough to crank the engine? I would think that fuse would be popping.

this is what I had to do to mine, I had just the ground going straight to the frame and I got code 463 (fuel sensor circuit high voltage feedback) so I ran a ground to the motor and this stoped the engine light

Re: battery relocation help

ok, im not 100% how or what you've already removed, but there is a 4 gauge wire already ging from the underhood fuse block to fuse under the factory battery tray. if that is still intact, you need to run from the battery to the starter (cuz jareds wire is not meant as the feed) and a positive to the other end of the fuse under the factory battery tray. As for grounds, yes, one to the frame, one to the engine, and one to the body (most things are grounded to the body, cuz the frame is insulated by the rubber body mounts)
