98-99 Manifolds
Okay, as the debate goes on about manifolds vs. headers, we decided to check something out.
With our coming 1-3/4" headers, we wanted to see what the stock F-body manifolds would do on a modified engine, so when we bolt up the headers, we can see what difference it gets. Engine is a '99 LS1 with 90mm Throttle body, FAST intake, Dart 225 heads, and a custom cam. The manifolds choke the engine around 5400 RPM. Now, in the next few weeks, we will have a dyno pull of the 1-3/4" long tube headers coming soon. I wish we had time to bolt up the Sanderson Shorty's, but that's just not going to happen this time around. |

Re: 98-99 Manifolds
Wow! Was this on a chassis dyno? Even with stock exhaust manifolds, this little motor makes some great HP/Torque numbers!
Keep up the great work/research! |

Re: 98-99 Manifolds
Those are SAE numbers which by most accounts are low. STD numbers are higher, so most people like those better. |

Re: 98-99 Manifolds
This is why I want tubes before I do internals to my ls1. Thanks can't wait to see numbers on the tubes.

Re: 98-99 Manifolds
Well... I just got off the phone with the people who are making the tubes for me. They are going to try and have them done by next week. So Hopefully it won't be too much longer.
Still shooting for around $750. We will see once we get a few sets all done though. |

Re: 98-99 Manifolds
Why arent you doing these on an engine dyno? That way you can do the testing on the same day, which makes results much more accurate.
