6.0 truck oil pan in 2wd s10-not H3 pan

Has anyone used the 6.0 truck pan. I know the crossmember will have to be cut. Has anyone did this before. I'm not tlaking about the H3. The H3 can only hold 5 quarts. the ^.0 truck pan can hold 6. It's always nice to have an extra quart of oil in the motor.

My question is how much of a notch to the crossmember and how far did the pan hang down if any. Thanks

Thumbs up Re: 6.0 truck oil pan in 2wd s10-not H3 pan

Have one in mine. You have to cut and add 1/4 steel plate. It hangs about 1 1/4 inch below the cross member. If you stay at the stock xtreme height, you will not have any problems clearing speed bumps. Just take it slow. You have to cut about 8in in and 1 1/4 in from the bottom arms. Gives you room for torque flex from the engine. I'm running a all aluminum 6.0l with 450hp and the truck pan for more oil.

My chassis guy wants to cut it all the way out. Then weld in a crossmember. The only bad part is what he's trying to charge. I'm going to have fab a solid mount I'm hoping that will take care of torque flex

I don't think it'll torque that much...but that's just my opinion...

You can always install an engine oil cooler to offset the difference in volume between pans.

The front crossmember doesn't have to be completely cut out. Print some of the pictures in this section (try looking at the stickys) and show him.

(PS, to the engine, there is little difference between 5 quarts and 6 quarts)

Why not add a dual oil filter to make up for lost volume and cleaner oil and longer oil filter life will be a benifet

Re: 6.0 truck oil pan in 2wd s10-not H3 pan

My H3 oil pan has 5 quarts in the sump (is brand new/bone dry), and the dipstick shows half quart low. Once the oil filter fills up then it will be about a quart low, allowing for just about 6 quarts total once its started.

So its GOT to hold more than just 5 quarts.

Mine takes 8 quarts to fill.

The corvette LS2 takes 5.5
The Cadillac LS6 CTSv holds 5.5

Not sure where you found the basis for your information.
