Re: 5.3l Swap Back from college finally!

So i got a lot done!

I found a gas tank got that all por15'd and also put in the walbro 255lp with some subersable(sp?) fuel line.

Got my fuel lines half made because i'm still waiting for a fuel fitting.

Got a rear sway bar from the junk yard cleaned up and installed (only $35!)

O and the cab is hovering over the frame, i'm just waiting for my energy suspension mounts!

and some other small stuff got done...

Re: 5.3l Swap Back from college finally!

NO MORE JACKSTANDS!!!

I've spent the last couple hours droping the cab onto the frame, its so nice to see it like this agian.

Also I found when i went to lower it that the square coils hit the brake booster and the a/c blower.

Then i saw the solution

My dad is gone on a business trip, so i stole is round coils and put my square ones back in his. Fixed the problem no more clearence issues.

Hey, I'm curious how much money have you put into the engine swap so far? I'm seriously considering doing a v8 swap but wanted to get an idea of how much this is gonna effect my bank account. Thanks and great post btw.

Re: 5.3l Swap Back from college finally!

So i kinda have a wierd question... i have some plug wires i got from taylor. They are longer then the stock OEM wires, i can still use them but isnt the shortest distance better?

I know that probably is hard to understand, which may have to do with the booze sitting in front of me.

So i'm asking if i should return the Taylor 8.2mm plugs wires because they are about 2-3inches longer then the OEM for another set of shorter ones or if it is kinda rediculus to worry about it?

8-10k, are you kidding me??? I picked up a 5.3/4l60e/wire harness for $1400 with 32k miles on it. you'll have $750 in wireharness corrections from speartech. you may have another 1k in misc parts, but if you are creative, it should be less than that. where are you dumping the other 6k at???

I am rebuilding the whole truck. So all i had in the begining was a frame. So thats where all the extras come from. Cab, truck bed, fenders, ect , ect , ect. I mentioned it in the other thread just not this one.

Still 10K for a reliable powerful v8 s10. Think if chevy built them like that from the factory. A 2003 v8 wiht all options would go (used, mind you) for at least 12-14k.

You might be having the same that I am. When I start the truck I have to give it thottle for it to stay running. It wont idle up like its suspost to. so I just hold the throttle a few seconds and let off and everything is fine. Is yours similar?

Kinda. I can start mine fine but to keep it running i need to give it gas. But if i don't keep on pedaling it will die. Any ideas?

Re: 5.3l Swap Back from college finally!

I havent fixed mine yet, but what i had to do is take IAC out and manually adjust it. push in the little plunger a little and that might hold you idle.
