5.3 year difference
So got a line on a 5.3, should be getting it in a day or so. Its a 05, i there anything different from it to other older years? I don't even know if its dbw or cable, and if it is dbw can I convert it simply by replacing the throttle body? PS just found out its from a van.

Re: 5.3 year difference
Yea i believe it wil be DBW. Yea you can swap a Cable TB onto it, just make sure its the same bolt pattern. Found mine from a guy on ls1tech.com

Re: 5.3 year difference
03+ is dbw. You can swap the throttle body out but it takes a different PCM and harness

Re: 5.3 year difference
CPW is making my harness and tuning my ecu, so covered there. I think the wait time is around 6 weeks for my harness once I call him and give him the info he needs, plenty of time to find a cable throttle body and swap it on.

Re: 5.3 year difference
i think it was 02.5+ that had DBW, so there are both types on 02's

Re: 5.3 year difference
All you need is a TAC module to control the DBW TB in relation to gas pedal position.

Re: 5.3 year difference
I think most guys just change the gas pedal to the one from the donor. FYI, my harness took 8 weeks. He is great, but I think he is a little optimistic on delivery. I love the quality of my harness, can't wait till mine is running.
