5.3 Vortec swap ?
Yeah I read the sticky, about how much would it probably cost to swap one into my 2000 4x4, probably buy a junkyard 325 an slap a few bolt ons to it. If anyone can point me in step by step directions towards putting this together it would be greatly appreciated

Re: 5.3 Vortec swap ?
Have you ever completed an engine swap? (no sarcasm, just a question)
Read post #12 on the LSx conversion sticky at the top of this forum section. There is no off-the-shelf oil pan, so you will have to make one to fit the front diff. Headers are not available (unless those new ones in jegs will work). CPW has a complete price list. Step 1: remove the old engine. Step 2: install the new engine. There are dozens of clear posts which explain this process. However, there are not many 4x4 conversions. You'll have to get a transmission matched for your transfer case (or) build up your stock 4L60e trans to hold the torque. You'll probably have to shorten your rear drive shaft and lengthen the front one. The 4x4 transfer case is controlled by the BCM so you don't need to worry about that. The exhaust will need to be custom to clear the torsion bars. You'll need to determine how you want to run the lines to your remote oil filter. ad infinitum Last edited by philntx : 07-02-2009 at 07:09 PM. |
