5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
hey guys, been looking on the site quite a bit lately getting ready for my swap. i've got a 99 s10 xtreme regular cab, short bed. i'll probably asking a few questions along the way. i'd like to get it running sometime in the middle of july. (wiring harness might push that date back)
i can't seem to find the gm part # for the H3 oil pan. anyone have that handy? anything else i should know about? problems, things to watch out for, etc.? |

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
got some updated pics. got the motor out and the frame degreased yesterday. i need to finish up painting the frame and get the new oil pan mounted. should be ready to drop it in after that.
i've seen some people's pics and it looks like they've got tubular upper a-arms. what all is involved with changing these over. i'm putting drop spindles on it anyway so i figure right now is the time to do it. DSC03265.jpg DSC03266.jpg DSC03267.jpg DSC03268.jpg |

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
I would try www.sdparts.com ang order the H3 pan from there. I was waiting for over 2 weeks on gm partsdirect.com to ship it when I finally got a email stating the pan is on national backorder and will not know when they'll get more. Hope this helps!

so i finally got my oil pan and got the motor mounted in the truck. i'll probably have to take it back out at some point, but it feels good to make some progress.

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
i've got a full bench right now. probably going to be using camaro seats with a blazer center console. i saw a picture of one that looked awesome. i believe he just took the cup holders out and the shifter came up through there with really nice vinyl or leather boot.
wondering how much behind the "stock hole in the floor" it is going to be. |

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
made some more progress this weekend. my goal was to get it started. but that didn't happen. didn't have the right fuel line fittings for the return line...
i'm real close though. any reason why i can't pop it off without the trans bolted up? anything else i need to worry about before i start it? |

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
ITS ALIVE!!!!
now i just have to finish putting the trans in and figure out the accessories. need to figure out the vacuum lines and all the various ports on the intake/throttle body. ls1 intake ***there is a small port (approx 1/8") coming off the back of the intake right by the map sensor ***small port (approx 3/16") right behind where the throttle body bolts to the intake on the passenger side truck throttle body ***port on drivers side (approx 3/8") coming straight off the side of the throttle body. same type of port on the passenger side thanks for your help guys Last edited by raceage : 09-01-2009 at 11:14 PM. |

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
small vacuum port on the bak of the intake you can use to run your cc and vacuum reservoir. The port on the pass front will be where your PCV system hooks into. Of course the port on the driver side front will be your EVAP emissions.
Sorry I have no guesses as to the port off thetruck TB. |

thanks for the help.
another question, on the cpw harness, what would the "low press." connector be for? can't find where this goes. |

Re: 5.3/t-56 Swap: finally started
Should go to the low pressure switch located on the back side of your receiver/drier, coming out of the black plastic box near the top.
