5.3 from a front wheel drive car

ok so i was wondering if a 5.3(ls4) from a front wheel driven car like say a 06+ monte ss, 06+ impala ss or a like car could be hooked up to a 4l60 trany and made to work in a jimmy???

It could, however, you'd have to strip it to the bare external block, replace the waterpump, all front accessories, intake manifold, etc.

If you are buying a complete motor, you aren't going to use much of what you are purchasing.

I don't think so. The LS4 was designed specifically for transverse mounting for front-wheel drive. The length is also shorter. From crankshaft to flex plate is 13mm shorter than other Gen III and IV engines. You might be able to do it if ya tear it down, but for what you would have into it you'd be better off buying a more common LM7/LQ4/LQ9 or even a decently prices LS1 or L92
