4x4 lsx swap help

i am thinking about picking up a 4x4 s10 and had a few questions i want to keep it 4x4:

1) what is involved with removing the torsion bars?

2) will 4x4 still work with torsion bars removed?

3) will long tubes work the same as 2wd once they are removed?

4) has anyone figured out the "best" oil pan to use?

thanks for your help

1) I removed the torsion bars on the AWD S10 I built and put coilovers on it.

2) Yes

3) I doubt it as you still have the differential and front driveshaft in the way on the Driver side and headers that weren't designed to go around them.

4) I think custom has been the only way with the LS1.

Re: 4x4 lsx swap help

removing the torsion bars is easy, the "budget" coil over setup that The Stunningman did is definitely something i want to do on my blazer. i know youve seen phil's blazer thread, thats the only set of long tubes on a 4x4 LSx swap that ive seen, and were custom built (as was his oil pan). there is the turbotime pan that some have had bad experience with, then there is the RPM pan that no one has even seen yet (as far as i know)...so yea, the 4x4 stuff is usually one-off, custom built.
