1st gen 5.3/4l60E swap ???
I did a search on this and didn't find what I was looking for so bare with me.
I'm considering swapping in a 5.3/4L60E setup into my 1992 Sonoma GT. The truck already has a 72' 350 SBC swapped into it by the previous owner. My questions are: 1. Can I get a wiring harness that utilizies the factory gauge cluster? 2. Can I retain my a/c and cruise with a DBW system? 3. What type of gas-mileage can I expect? 4. On a scale of 1 to 10 how difficult is the swap? 5. Any suspension issues I might encounter with the swap? Right now I'm trying to gather as much information as I can on the subject. I've considered using a 5.3 truck block with corvette accesories and mild bolt ons. I would like to keep the interior & exterior fairly stock to retain the "sleeper" effect. The purpose of the truck would be just a road warrior in the sense that it would be driven daily and would have to be reliable. Any help or input on the subject is greatly appreciated. Later |

Re: 1st gen 5.3/4l60E swap ???
Clay is right, Current Peformance did my harness all my gauges work fine and it has cruise built in even though my truck never had it, I picked up a colum with it and just have to run a power feed the other wires are in the harness so yes you can keep your accessories. you will need to have custom ac lines made for the gen 1 setup, I haven't got that far with the ac I am still waiting on an aftermarket condensor from Hot Rod Air.....no suspension issues....it is a techical swap for professionals only so "don't try this at home"...jk...there are enough people who have done this so all your questions can be answered by a search or just posting.... good luck
