Flush-Mount LED Help needed
so i have the AVS flush mount LED on my truck. so it took a while for me & my paint/body guy to figure out how to mount it (i'd never done one, and neither had he). so we finally figured out a way to put it in, and i'm pretty sure now that it's not the "right way." i was hoping someone on here would have some pics, steps, or write-up of how it's done.
![]() ![]() pics for reference. so the light has a 2-sided lens. one side is rough, the other is smooth with the red oval piece attached. we cut out that oval using the included template (welded to the inside of the tailgate) and put the rough side in and the red side out throught the cut out in the gate. i do believe that the light is supposed to be clear tho, and therefore painted to match (with candies or w/e) which is why i think it's in wrong. and i saw the lens glue on the avs site. so does it glue in with the rough side facing out from the outside and then it's sanded down or what??? any help is greatly apprecated because i am looking forward to redoing this thanks guys |

Re: Flush-Mount LED Help needed
Sounds like you did it the correct way. The oval lens part should go into the cut out on your tailgate. The "rough" part is the prismatic. It helps to spread the light out and make it more visable.
Also, the lenses come in either red or clear. You need to be specific when you order. Let me know the name it was ordered under and I can check it out to see what you ordered. BTW, you mentioned it came with a template? Because our large lights do not have templates, so you may have purchased the FBI lights that we had on discount. Just let me know... |

Yea I did, I learned that wks after I ordered it go :/. But it's been holdin up. So what's the lens glue for? My light is comin through from the inside of my gate b/c it jus didn't seem like it'd work comin from the outside.
My name is Earvin Davis btw |

Re: Flush-Mount LED Help needed
The lens glue is used to glue your lens down to your sheetmetal.
Is your lens going through the tailgate and the template? Because those lights only have an 1/8" thick lens. And that would make it pretty tough to flush mount it. You may need an 1/4" one to make it stick through a little further. |

Re: Flush-Mount LED Help needed
yea, it's goin through both. the tailgate on my f150 is 2 layers, so it's just thick enough to make the light sit literally flush. but i asked because the red oval piece thats stuck to the lens started to peel away from it. i thought maybe i could use the lens glue for that. but i might end up just using hot glue on each end, maybe some super glue, then siliconing around it on the inside of the gate to keep it water tight.

Re: Flush-Mount LED Help needed
hey sorry to "walk in" on your thread but would u happen to have a pic of the back of the tailgate where your light bar is? i got the full skin combo on mine and am wanting to get either this light bar or the two seperate 7.5"l.e.ds,just wondering if their is any exposed wires that gotta be hidden..or how it looks back there.

Re: Flush-Mount LED Help needed
i don't have one, and it's dark right now. i'll get one for u tomorrow tho no prob.
![]() best i could dig up right now. no "exposed wires" there's a control module with wires that i ran to the wires from my stock bulb harness. i went with this light tho, b/c the separate lights are all too common on shaved rears. i really want the billet ones now tho |

Re: Flush-Mount LED Help needed
That was a very common problem with those FBI lights. They are only held on by double sided clear tape, not the best way to do it. You could try super glue. But be sure to spray an activator on it after so it doesn't turn white and chalky.
