AVS poppers w/ Barracuda alarm (Kris)
Kris (or anybody who knows),
I ordered the door actuator kit for my '03 S10 and later ordered the 3 button Barracuda alarm on Kris' recommendation, (cause she says it's not a good idea to use the factory FOB to pop my doors, yada, yada). Just playin.. anyway everything is good except I tied the passenger door to aux channel 2 (which is the ARM button) and now when I want to pop the passenger door I have to hold arm button 2 sec's and then it arms, pops the door, then the alarm goes off cause the door opens. Yeah I know that was dumb but the alternative was to use aux channel 1 which is the DISARM button and I wired it so that on Disarm the driver door pops from the unlock pulse, and I didn't want both doors to open every time. What can I do? Does channel 1 energize EVERY time I hit the button? It would be cool if it would operate like a 2 stage door system where the 1st press would operate the drivers door and the 2nd press would be passengers. Is that possible? So, just let me know if there is anything I could do. And by the way, I haven't found a reason to keep carrying the Chevy key FOB anymore, should I still be using it? It seems kinda useless now. |

Re: AVS poppers w/ Barracuda alarm (Kris)
So I used the ARM button for the passenger door which gives the before mentioned problem that when I hit it, it then arms the system, pops the door, then the alarm goes off because the door opens. I would like to know if I switched the passenger door to channel 1 (disarm button), would it take 2 presses to pop the passenger when the system is armed OR would it disarm and pop the passenger all with the same press. I would just try it but the alarm is buried and a major hassle to get to. |

Re: AVS poppers w/ Barracuda alarm (Kris)
ALARM SOLID GREY WIRE TO RELAY HARNESS LIGHT GREEN WIRE ALARM GREY/WHITE STRIPE WIRE TO RELAY HARNESS BLUE WIRE Now your remote buttons will have dual functions. This is how it works: Press the button with the "LOCK" icon once quickly and the alarm will arm. Press the button with the "LOCK" icon for 2 seconds and the driver's door will open. Press the button with the "UNLOCK" icon once quickly and the alarm will disarm. Press the button with the "UNLOCK" icon for 2 seconds and the passenger's door will open. Now remember, if the alarm is armed you must first disarm the alarm by pressing the UNLOCK button for no more than a second. THEN, hold down the LOCK button to open your driver door. Then you can hold down the UNLOCK button to open the passenger door if needed. I would not recommend keeping the driver door on the unlock output. If something sets off your alarm and you press the button to disarm it, then you just turned the alarm off and opened the door for them. It would also really suck during a thunder storm. ![]() |

Thanks Jeff, that really makes a lot more sense and be so much easier.
Wish I was going to Vegas for the SEMA show. Got any extra tickets laying around? Do you have any new products you're going to be showing off? |

![]() No tix. You have to be in the industry to get in. If you anyone in any kind of automotive related business they can get you in (but I didn't tell you that! lol!). We have a couple of new billet switch boxes and some more shaved door apps but nothing big. Any other new stuff won't be ready to the end of the year. Let me know when you get that wired up. L8! |
