I don't think it would. It hasn't for over a year now. But it's something I'm definitely gonna look at.

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
the wheel hop problem with this link setup is in proper link bar angles. THe easiest way to help mimuize the wheel hop is to install a lowering block under the leaf perches. that changes the angles in relationship between the upper wishbone bar and the lower link bars. Now also you will loose a little lift since your changing the lower bag mounting location... but then again thats a good thing since ya can install a bolt in C notch and regain the travel back plus get a bit lower.
On the air bar i moddied we added a 2" block and that fixed all the wheel hop problems... so just some food for thought. |

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
Will I get any Ill effect if I used the 3in block thats on my truck now with the airbar? I also have drop spindles in the front....will mine be lower? I am still runnning stock wheels/tires.

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
well a 3" block is really pushin it.. personaly i wouldnt do it. The main thing ya have to think about is the larger the block you use the lower that entire lower link bar/ bag mount bracket is gona sit to the ground which could cause ground clearense issues, and also your gona loose all that much more lift.

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
Ok just a 2in block then. I really just wanna get as low as I can with the airbar. I need the bed, so I dont want to cut it up. The bolt in notches dont effect the bed any correct? Will the drop spindles get me lower in the front? Will it sit even?

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
using blocks isnt going to get you any lower. if your axle is hitting the frame, the axle is hitting frame. even with a c notch, the frame(well C notch) is what limits you(assuming we are talking about bolt in C notch) using a 1-2" block on the airbar only helps out the geometry of the kit, it wont get you any lower

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
Yeah I just wanted to blocks to help the airbar out. I was the notch to get the truck a lil lower to the ground when laid out.

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
the airbar as is seems to give people a lot of wheel hop. DJDaudio and 98layinframe gave it some thought and put in either a 1" or 2" lowering block on it so correct the geometry of the kit so that it eliminates the wheel hop issue. only problem with doing this is you loose 1-2" of lift(depending on what size block you use)

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
true.. but in doing so, we also added a set of bolt in notches to dougs truck which infact did get him lower tot he ground.
And also even if you guys dont plan to add any type of notch, and dont want to loose alot of lift... just adding even a 1" block between the axle perch and lower bag mount will greatly reduce the amount of wheel hop. |

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
just for comparitive reasons.....my friend has the airbar with a bolt in 2.25" notch and his axle goes all the way up to the bottom of that notch without blocks. so if he put blocks on it wouldnt get him any lower.
but moral of the story is put in a 1" block to reduce wheel hop |

ok so here are 2 pics, this is with a 17" rim, i think its something like a 235/45/17 tire, not positive. and he DOES have the bolt in 2.25" notch, axle resting on the notch without blocks, but he gets wheel hop really bad i know ![]() ![]() |

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
giver? huh?
wheel hop: Definition: An undesirable suspension characteristic in which a wheel (or several) moves up and down so violently that it actually leaves the ground. Wheel hop can be caused by many problems, including excessive unsprung weight, insufficient shock damping, or poor torsional axle control. |

if ya drive it like a grandma... you wont have any problems. Now if ya get on it hard pulling out of a stop light... yeah there mostly gona break the tires loose and bounce around a bit.

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
you didnt cut off the bumpstops? geeez man. thats like a solid 2-3" more drop you could get I bet. I mean however tall it is is how much lower it will go. cut that shit off!!! get out the sawzall(sp?) or the cutoff wheel!

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
Yeah, I would most certainly cut the bump stops off. All I did was grind the welds off the bracket. Then knocked it off with a hammer. The bumpstop is just welded to the frame. Once I cut them off, I bolted a small rubber bumper to the framerails so that the axle tubes wouldn't slam down on the frame. Here's some pics:

i tried with a sawzall but that didnt seem to like me too much. lol. i dont know how u guys got the blade in there its such a tight fit.
and one more thing... i just realized that i mounted the piece and connects onto the tank x-bar on upside-down. that shudnt matter tho rite? bc it should be the same hieght up or down...? it seems to be fine now? idk |

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
wow, I have wanted to bag my s10 for so long and I never could bring myself to hack up the bed, and I was afraid of cutting the fram and then welding everything to it and I just found this... all I can say is wow, its cheap, and lowers it a considerable ammount and with a bolt in notch would have me plenty low and best of all I can raise it back up so I dont have problems like I do now with my 2/3+zq8 on my x while trying to turn. hope that I can order a front set up from suicide doors and do the rear sometime this summer... quick question though how hard is the front? easy? cause this airbar looks pretty freakin sweet and easy and from what I hear the front is easy as well

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
It's easy. The most aggravating part imo is the upper control studs. It's kinda aggravating trying to get a wrench on them (no room ). I spent alot of time making sure nothing was going to rub, airlines weren't going to get crushed, how close the tie rod ends were to the frame, tideous stuff like that. Next time I go to bag, it'll be alot easier. |

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
Yeah, it would lay frame. I would have to notch for my tie rod ends too, though. They're about 1/8" from the frame right now. By the way, there are no stupid ?'s. But, there are know-it-all jackasses who think we're stupid. Who probably haven't ever seen an actual airbag in person. They've visited Suicide Doors' website, so that makes them professionals. ![]() |

Re: For those who want pics of Xtreme's with Airbar
I'm not in any way knocking the Air Bar setup, as a matter of fact I've considered one for myself, but why not spend the extra money to buy the ART RoadGrater if you're lookin' for something to lay frame WITHOUT modification?
This is just the way I see it. It's an extra $500, which granted alot of people don't just have layin' around, but look at it this way.... It's 100% bolt on (just like the Air Bar), lays frame on 20's, comes with bolt in notch and a raised gas tank crossmember. For example, say you bought the Air Bar ($995), an SD Bolt in Step Notch ($249), and an SD raised gas tank cross member ($149). That'd put you at about $1400 before shipping. Might as well spend the extra $100 to get the RoadGrater ($1495, and has free shipping) that has a very reliable design and is made to lay frame on 20s. Just my $.02, not trying to knock the set up. I just think that those looking to lay frame should consider the RoadGrater when looking for a 100% bolt on kit. Oh, and your Air Bar looks great! You have a real clean looking truck! |

Yeah, I wish I would have gotten the RoadGrater in a way. But, I didn't want to cut the bed. But next one I do, I'll definitely buy the roadgrater. |

actually i was worried about the same issues. everyone i talked to said something else. some ppl say u will hit inners first, some ppl say tie rods and then others say u will hit the kit (if u have an extreme) but theres only one way to find out... do it! haha lol
