art arms blew up
just wondering if you guys replace the ball joints or arms if there is some kinda warranty or not?
i didnt originally buy the arms as how they were on the truck when i bought it but this is what happen. i was driving down the street and bam i thought i blew a bag but i didnt here the air rush out so i pulled over and the ball joint ripped out. i have not pulled these out and checked them yet to see if the arm was bent. (i wouldnt even know if they were) so im not sure if i want to put a bad product back on the truck. why could this have happened? but if you guys can help out in any way i would greatly appreciate it also they are on a 98 chevy dually. also it bent every piece of front end steering so all that has to be replaced ![]() ![]() |

Re: art arms blew up
Ok a little confused. The title says that the arm blew up but it looks like a ball joint failure, is there some thing I am missing? If it is infact a balljoint failure what does the ball joint angle look like on the other side?

Re: art arms blew up
I am curious is that the original moog ball joint that came in the arm? as for your concern of it being a bad product we use all moog factory replacement ball joint so that shouldn't be the case.

Re: art arms blew up
well i got the moog replacement but have yet to put it in because i still have to pull it apart
the reason i say bad product is after the fact of the arm slaming into the ground be cause it was under pressure so when the ball joint pulled out it slammed into the ground the was drug down the street and into the rocks of the side of the road i am just concerned of it being tweaked thats all i would know if it is or not seeing how i dont know how they are supposed to look in the first place yes i have the other side to look at but it is the complete opposite also i dont know how precise they have to be thats really my only concern so... sorry for the long sentence |

Re: art arms blew up
Thats A Valid Concern You Need To Do A Ball Joint Measurement
Jack Up The Broken Side Up So It Is Level With The Other Side Measure From The Center Of The Ball Joint On Both Sides To Point On The Frame That Is Constant On Both Sides Like A Tranny Crossmember Rivit If The Controll Arm Got Pushed Back It Will Be Less Distance Between The Point And The Lower Ball Joint On The Damaged Side |

Re: art arms blew up
to each there own but you are fine with the Moog ball joint you already purchased send it in with the arm and I will press it in at N/C.... Moog is a quality ball joint that I have personally ran on my vehicles going on over 10yrs

Re: art arms blew up
i have only had the art arms on my s10s and i love them.
art dont make the balljoints, so it wasnt the actual arm that failed.. |

Re: art arms blew up
Moog lowers are fine, its their uppers that suck, you need an accordian style balljoint in the uppers to keep it from tearing apart immediately.
Im not sure if PP makes them for duallys, but I wouldnt bother in this case, even tho they are a very nice unit. |
