Binding question for suicide door
I'm working on getting my new hinges in, and have got them tacked into place. The only issue I have is that I was unable to put the brackets perfectly vertical over each other due to the body line of the truck. With the mounts that get welded into the door installed I am able to get the outer edges vertical with the adjustment built into them. I have noticed that the hinges bind just a bit at full open (about the last 2 degrees to full open). It does not seem bad, but they don't swing full open freely. There is not enough stress on them to break the light tacks I put on a flat bar at the outer edge. My questions is this... Will this get worse with the weight of the door on it, and is it going to be something I am going to have to worry about? I don't see any way of getting them vertical because there is not enough room in the door jam to move the top one in any more, and the bottom one is as close to the lower body line as it can get.

Re: Binding question for suicide door
binding will wear out the bushings. they neeeeeed to be perfectly on top, in alignment with each other.

Re: Binding question for suicide door
There is nowhere on my door jam I can place them where they are perfectly in line with each other, unless I put them 8" apart or closer. I don't know if my jam is all F'd up or what. I noticed in the how to you have, that you placed yours like 13" apart. If I get outside the 8" range, the top has no more jam space to move further in, and at the bottom, I am out to the fold on the cab skin and the dip from the body line is getting in the way from moving it out any more to get it to line up. If I move it down any further, I get into issues with the bracket hitting into the window track. Is my truck just retarded, or is it me. As I said the binding is not bad, and only comes into play in maybe the last 1/2" of full open, is this still gonna cause a problem? If so, should I move the hinges closer together? I know they should be as far apart as possible to help with sagging.

Re: Binding question for suicide door
You could probably trim the top hinge a little to move it in some more. But Pics would definatly help.

Re: Binding question for suicide door
The pic is from when I 1st cut them. Since then I have moved the top as close to the inside edge as I can (it is cut into the initial roll of the door jam), and the bottom has been cut out to the fold of the cab skin (red arrows). I have no more room to move the top one in any more, nor the bottom one out. Only way I would get them to line up is to move the bottom one down more, but then it hits the window track. As I said the bind is just enough to keep it from an easy swing to full open, and can be moved to full open with a finger, and hardly any force at all (will this still give me major bushing problems down the line)?

Re: Binding question for suicide door
In the above pic you can see how close the bottom bracket is to the body line (the bolt is about 1/8" away from touching the body line inside the truck). If I move it down, I am in the window track with the door bracket. Any sugestions?

Re: Binding question for suicide door
I did to mark the spots where I wanted them, but after cutting them I had the issue with the bottom bolt hitting the bodyline, and had to move it in just a hair. The only place I am finding where I would be able to get them perfect is if I move the bottom hinge down more (hits the window track), or if I move it up, but then they are only about 8" apart (if even that far). With the bit of bind I do have, it only starts binding at very near to full 90 degree open. I doubt I'll open it the full 90 degrees very often. If the bushings do wear out, are they replaceable?
