Re: Train horns

The train horn I have is mounted under the bed pointing out the back, it is amazing, I love it. nothing like creeping up on some pigeons(hoes) and train horning them enough to get them to drop stuff. honk honk!

Re: Train horns

Must post pics, I been thinking about getting a set for my blazer and have not found anywhere good to mount them besides under it.

I'm not doing that cause its a 4x4 and I do mud in it here and there and don't want the horns ruined.

Re: Train horns

I bought an air horn kit from ebay that is decently loud for the price. It's not as loud as a train but it will get peoples attention. I mounted mine under the bed on the spare tire crossmember and put the tank and compressor in the bed.

Here are a couple of pics of it...

And a video...

Re: Train horns

I know a guy that used an actual locomotive horn on his toy hauler. You think they are loud on the train but without the rumbling of the train on the tracks it much louder.

Re: Train horns

Mine is under the bed but pointed out the back, no condensation or water gets in..... also the air input is above the bed so no issues with dragging the hoses

also be aware of the cheap ones bought at auto places. usually red plastic with some kind of power cell, i smelled an unusual smell of burning and i looked at the source of the smell and it turned out to be that cheap A$$ horn it got too hot where the leads for the switch run into and burned up all the plastic around that site!!!

Re: Train horns

It dont matter if they are plastic but high quality, they dont sound much different and just because they are metal dont mean they are louder either.

Nope, the bracket I made angles the horns downwards so I don't have any problems, and my differential cover acts like a shield.

We have the same horns, the video was taken with a cell phone so of course it sounds distorted.
