Passenger seat wont lock

Hey the passenger seat in my 2door 92 wont lock into place it is a manual seat and when I push the front seat leve that allows it to slide into locking position, It want to stay but it doesnt.. It just pops out of place. It's extremley unsafe for the passenger... if i were to slam onto the brakes they would slam into the dash or windsheild. Any idea or should I just go find a new seat...? Or should I take it out and look and see if anythings out of the ordinary. Idk anything about seat assemleys or function soo it would be a shot in the dark for me... Any trouble shoots or common problems with them?...

Re: Passenger seat wont lock

My '01 s10 does something like that. If you pull the lever to move the seat it won't lock in on its own. You have to push down on the lever and manually lock it into the groove.

Re: Passenger seat wont lock

Pull the seat out, turn it over and take a look. The lever will work one lock on one track and there will be a wire going to the lock on the other track that makes it work.

Re: Passenger seat wont lock

Nothings working so far with the seat in the truck so I'm going to have to take it out and give it a look. It's getting cold ha darn... But if worst comes to worst could I just find a seat from a Junk Yard and get my current seat cloth over the new seat? I love my interior it's the blackish base color with the red lines. and it says blazer on the driver side..

Re: Passenger seat wont lock

The tracks unbolt from the seat. If yours are bad just get tracks. The tracks are more vehicle specific but they will unbolt and bolt to any seat (at least all the GM's I done so far)

Re: Passenger seat wont lock

just look under it without pulling it out, see if there are 2 springs there, and if both are there, see if each of them are attached at both ends, my truck i was missing a spring, went to the junk yard and snuck one out, lol, works like a charm now
