newbie needs advice...lowering etc.
the build has come to a halt...and now its time for some parts ordering
car is a -91 S10 Blazer 4x4 4doors ive looked at Belltech loweringkits and need some advice...should i go for a coil or spindle kit? the coilkit lowers the car 3"-3" and the spindle 2"-3" neither is a problem since im not gonna drop it any further. the other question this far is a distribuator one cant find any dimension specs for the o-ring. so any dimension on that would be appreciated.and finally...since im located in Sweden i could really need a tip on which companys you guys find reliable and that ships abroad (only found LMCtruck this far) |

Re: newbie needs advice...lowering etc.
Neither the coil kit or the dropped spindle will work for you,
Your 4x4 does not have coil springs on the front, it has torsion bars. You can get a couple of inches out of the bars by loosening the adjuster bolt on the torsion bar cross member located about half way back towards the rear axle. Let the front wheels hang when you loosen the bolt to take the load off of the bar. There are drop keys to replace the factory keys on the end of the torsion bar, they will allow more drop. depending on the rust on the parts, it may be very difficult to remove the factory keys. Dropped spindle, as far as I know no one makes a drop spindle for the 4x4. There are a variety of options for the rear, drop blocks, lowering leaf springs, etc. Sorry I know of no one who ships over seas, but I have never checked. I missed the O-ring part, is this the gasket at the base of the distributor??? If so any small block Chevy distributor gasket will work. If you can't find one you could make one from gasket material. Re: newbie needs advice...lowering etc.
ty for the answeres BravadaAWD
youre absolutely right about the cross member ( its pretty obvious that i stared myself blind in the catalog and that i left my brain behind some page innit ) as the rear goes im going to use blocks. and with the o-ring i ment the gasket at the distributor base, so damn spot on again ![]() |
