Re: Need Ignition Switch assistance please.

how to pull the wheel?

Take off the center cap on the steering wheel.

Loosen the nut in the middle of the wheel.

Go to autozone and get a wheel puller

Strap the puller around the wheel and center the puller over the bolt where you took the nut off

And tighten the puller with a wrench tell it pops off.

Thanks for the response. I found a steering wheel puller buried at the shop, but had no snap ring remover so i had a bud push while i wedged the ring out. Wasn't as bad as thought.

Again, thanks for the quick response

I can post some pictures after i get home from work around 6pm or so. I have some showing it taken apart that might help. If you have all the tools it can be done in a day. Mine took two because i didn't have everything and had to make a stop by the store.

Are you replacing the switch or the cylinder assembly?

The Cylinder assembly..........

The job wasn't too bad.

Unfortunatly, i pulled the horn's spring loaded ground clip to hard when i took the cover off & broke the plastic notch. Now, no horn. I have another parts s-10 I can take it from there. But that is 2 steering wheels & pressure plates to remove just to have a horn.

anyone know any quick fixes? I guess i could cut another notch w/ a hot knife..........

I also took pics if anyone would care to see.

Meaning what? That i don't need to take off my steering wheel again? The only reason i haven't fixed it is because i don't want to pull the steering wheel again. It would be nice to have brights though. I've needed them a couple times already.

Ya,you should be able to get the rod back into the switch w/o pulling things apart, its got enough free play that it should slip back in,I did once after pulling things apart then realizing I didnt have it back in after buttoning things up.

What is that anyway? A spring to make the highs click on? The handle for wipers,CC, & blinker all work fine......but the high beams never worked ever since i got It. Would love to hear a quick fix!

Ya,there is a rod that runs along the side of the column that goes into a push button switch, most likelly its out of position.
