Hood Release Cable Broke, Unable to Open Hood

Hey all, it's been awhile since I last posted anything here, but I have a SERIOUS problem. Recently, without any warning, my hood release cable gave out on my '93 S-10 Blazer and I am unable to open the hood. I bought a new hood release cable, but I gotta get the hood open first. How would I go about opening the hood without the release cable? I know it's going to be painful, but I gotta do it.

Re: Hood Release Cable Broke, Unable to Open Hood

u gotta understand this with words, cuz my boss has my camera.... its not that hard
-if u look thru the grille, ull see where the cable clips onto the latch (the plastic part that holds the cable in place)
-take a long screwdriver, and pop the cable up (through the grille)
-it might take a min or two, but get the screwdriver in front of the piece u just popped up (thats the end of the plastic on the cable)
-keep pulling it toward the drivers side till the hood pops
hope u get this

The cable didn't actually snap, it came undone from the hood latch, me and a buddy actually pried the hood up slightly, unscrewed the grill, removed the grill, and popped the hood latch with a screwdriver. We then reconnected the cable and pinched the eyelet of the hood release latch with a pair of pliers to keep it (the cable from popping off) from happening again. So it's in good working order again.

Re: Hood Release Cable Broke, Unable to Open Hood

Just peek in between the grille and hood. You should barely see the tip of the loop that holds the end of the cable. Get a flat blade screwdriver, butt it up against the loop, and tap it in. It should pop open.
