On my 5/6 i did 3" coils and spindles in the front and monoleaf, 3 inch blocks, JTR setback plates, and a notch in the rear.

Re: Dropping a 4 door first gen blazer

its not dangerous per say, but its definitely looked down upon on this forum.

its fine to pull one leaf. Or you can get drop leafs from belltech.

All two wheel drive s series, trucks, blazers, ex cab, you name it. Have the same suspension, although theres a few minor differences.

Blazer leafs are different than a truck though, but you lower them the same way

Re: Dropping a 4 door first gen blazer

Hope these help. The short thick spring on the bottom is the overload, it helps keep you from bottoming out, plus strengthens the other spring. The plate below the block is from Jagsthatrun.com, it centers your axle in the wheelwell and prevents your driveshaft from sliding into the tailhousing too far causing transmission trouble. I had it lowered without the plates for about 3 months and never had a problem. I just like the look of a centered axle. Let me know if you have any more questions or need any more pictures.

Re: Dropping a 4 door first gen blazer

Just remember,if you buy drop leaf springs, get Blazer specific. I know they said above that truck leafs are different, just making sure you remember this.
I still say your red Blazer is one of the nicest,I like the clean stock look. And BTW,stock tails make it 10X better now!

Re: Dropping a 4 door first gen blazer

im nearly positive first gens use the same leaf springs, the leaf springs didnt change until later second gen, i wanna say post 98. The stock leafs on first gens are different, the blazer spring pack has one more leaf for the extra weight, but demensionally are the same. I do believe belltech drop leafs for a first gen and all second gen pickups carry the same part number

I dont really like my belltech leafs, they are super soft and have axle wrap like you wouldnt believe. Ive previously helped a buddy drop his blazer 5/5.5 with 4 inch blocks and pulled a leaf out the spring pack. Id use jagsthatrun blocks and a set back plate, pull the second to largest leaf and see how it sits before spending 200 bucks on a set of belltechs.

Re: Dropping a 4 door first gen blazer

I have drop leafs that came off a 98 pickup on my first gen blazer. I believe it was 98+ blazers that stuff changed I know their front suspension is different.

Re: Dropping a 4 door first gen blazer

It would end up being just about as low as a 5/6 on 20s but you will probably have more fender to wheel gap than you would like.

when i bagged my old Dakota with mono's in the back, after a while they looked like they were starting to warp. after that I swore never to do that again.

I would either just pull one leaf or get drop leafs, it makes things easier and safer imo.
