Pull it apart. Resolder every single trace on the power board and on the power supply.

Re: digital dash on 92 blazer

I have an '89 and the speedo, odometer, and rest of dash itermittantly turn on and off. At first it was just the odometer, then the speedo, and now everything. I had it out once, and nothing looked obviously wrong with it -- no bad solder joints etc. What exactly am I supposed to resolder?!

Re: digital dash on 92 blazer

resolder (on the green display board) all the points where the VFD glass displays connect to the board. on the blue back board, resolder AT LEAST the 10 pins that go to the little yellow power supply board made by TDK. Sometimes parts the the powersupply have cold solder joints too, and your best bet is to take off the power supply board and resolder EVERYTHING on it and be sure not to short anything out because some of the connections are pretty close together. If that doesn't work, resolder all the parts on the blue backboard

Look at all the moving parts you lose when you go digital. You can route the wires into tighter spaces than a speedo cable. You can build those digital boards for lots cheaper than a speedo too. They didn't do it to improve the car, they did it because it is all cheaper to build.

Re: digital dash on 92 blazer

Well, I had a friend ride with me the other day, and asked why the hell my speedo would only work some of the time. I gave him a brief explaination and he said he could fix it for me. I trust him(has a BA in Electrical Eng.) So basically what is the process to get this bastard out? I tried on my '91 and never got it out, now Im gonna try and get it out on my '92

Does anyone have a schematic or know exactly which points to solder for the speedo, and also maybe a quick run down on how to get the dash out?
