93 jimmy no start

my buddy has got a 93 jimmy 4x4 that wont start. it cranks and cranks but wont fire. the truck was running fine (as fine as it could i guess) on the way to work when it just died, at 75 mph on the freeway just shut off. Still have power in dash lights etc. the fuel pump was replaced a lil over a month ago and fuel filter last week. cap and rotor done right before fuel pump. I have no idea where to go next. please help. with gas the way it is and me losing my car pooling buddy i need it to run.

Re: 93 jimmy no start

spark for sure its about 60 miles into a full tank and its getting gas but still have yet to test fuel pressure. i depressed the test valve with a small screw driver while cranking and got a 2 inch high burst and that was it.

Possible pickup coil. Did you actually test for spark at the plug? Mine did the exact same thing and that was what it turned out to be.

Re: 93 jimmy no start

I've even seen the plug come off the coil and cause the same problem!

Bought fuel pressure guage and found i have 58-60psi. changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor. nothing happened. tryed starting fluid truck fired for a few seconds and nothing. so now im stuck and have no clue where to look next. I'm thinking injectors or pcm. thanks again much appreciated.

Re: 93 jimmy no start

Well if it tried to run after starting fluid and you have 50-60#s of pressure, I would guess you have a non-functioning spider injector.

Re: 93 jimmy no start

same exact thing happened to me a month ago. did everything you did. found out it was the ignition control module. try replacing that. then my 89 started right up.

Re: 93 jimmy no start

When you check for spark, you need to see continuous spark, not just one spark.
