lol....anyways very nice truck man,you did great,what kind of shape was it in when you first picked it up? Oh and can I ask,what is that plug on the drivers side almost looks like a plug with a black wire coming off of it where the sparkplug goes?

Water temp sensor, It was in the condition you see it. I didn't do anything to the body. I bought it with a 4.3 that was pretty much toast, drove it back from st louis & replaced with another 4.3 while I was building the first small block.

question.. to you guys with v8's. did you all do the swaps yourselves? i was thinking about doin it but i really dont have the means or the know how. how much would a shop charge to swap in a v8? just curious.

edit. by the way. THE GRIFF... that is beautiful. very tastefully done.

If you dont have the means,tools,money,and know how then the swap isnt for you.You could possibly ask around your town and find a high performance shop that can do the swap since its a pretty common swap.Depending upon what you want from it you could do a carb'd swap and possibly get out of the shop for less than 3k but i cannot be so sure on that.

Ya,I did mine myself,I bought the truck the 350 was in,drove it home and pulled the motor,sent the truck too the scrapper along with the old 2.8 and custom made my own V8 swap mounts and dropped it right in. My swap is very simple,I meen I used alot of stock wiring and was able to do little fab work on the wiring part. Ive got less then $1K wrapped up in mine,considering I only paid $300 for the truck,motor and all then buying the other various parts,maybe less then $1K.
But ya,if you dont have the first clue in what is required to make an engine run you might wanna pay someone.
$380 total for the truck with the 350
$173 for the Blazer
$500 for various parts and w/e etc.
Since Im a pic whore,here was my doner(85 C10 with an 87 350)

Look at all this room in these trucks,I cant wait to stat on my 65 GMC fullsize project at some point.

Compared to it shoe horned in my Blazer:

Yeah,Ive got big ass wheels but even with 24's I can outrun some stock vehicles with ease,but I dont really race my truck so I cannot say.Ive only messed with little hondas and other v8 trucks on the street.

This is my '90 Blazer I just picked up. I've just about got it ready to pass saftey/emissions. I have new chrome smoothies f&r coming and a 92 paintable grille for a little updated look w/ billet inserts. When I have time to rent a spray booth for the weekend, I'll be spraying it with Kustom Shop's flat black or flat metallic carnival red. The 4.3L w/ bolt-ons will have to do for now, but an LSx/4L60E or TH350 swap will be coming this upcoming year. I have a brand new 300+ HP 4-bolt main gen I 350 SBC w/ brand new Edelbrock....everything, that came out of my Impala, but I have emissions testing in my county and can't use it.

The interior is the nasty maroon. I might try to dye all the panel, glass them, wrap them.......or something to get it looking better. It's going to get some better seats too (not that they're in bad shape...).
