1st Gens with MPG monitors?
Were there any 1st Gens with the Avg MPG/Instantaneous MPG monitors like newer cars have. I know C3 vettes had them, so I believe the technology was there to support them. If not, is there anything like the ScanGuage 2 for OBD1 vehicles. I've been searching but I'm not sure if I'm using the right name as I'm getting routed to RV sites that have some very interesting packages, but aren't for auto's.

Re: 1st Gens with MPG monitors?
I have a C3 and it doesn't have a "MPG monitor". Some GM cars from the late 60's had a speed warning option for a few bucks extra. I think more recent modle years reference the manifold vacuum as a way of keeping tabs on fuel economy.

Re: 1st Gens with MPG monitors?
The way I stated it sounds like all C3s have them. I didn't mean that. I've worked on an '89 C3 that did have it as part of the digital console. The technology is there if you look at some of the outputs that you can pull with EASE diagnostic software. Was looking for something like the SCANGuage, but haven't found it yet for OBD1.

Re: 1st Gens with MPG monitors?
'89 is a C4. '68 to '82 is a C3. '84 to '96 is a C4.
Just a clarification.Last edited by SH-60B : 06-15-2008 at 07:20 AM. |

mid 80's caprice has a manifold vacuum fuel economy gauge.
early 90's cadillac had a electonic gas gauge and a economy gauge i think the front wheel eldo, deville had them. |

Re: 1st Gens with MPG monitors?
There is a special program in the computer to spit out extra data on the aldl (obd1) wires. no 1st gen s10's came with anything like this.
