I was curious cause I'm planning on doing a mild chop on my blazer and I'm trying to figure out the best method for the new glass.

Tri-Valley Auto Glass in CA will custom cut windshields and glass. It's not cheap though. Most glass that's cut for a chopped vehicle isn't street legal since it's not shatter resistant. I don't even know if you can order S-series glass that's non-DOT approved. You should give them a call and get a quote though.

Re: 1st gen Blazers; post pics here

i was actually thinking of maybe using lexan for the windshield, i know its strong, my only concern is whether it would look clear enough like glass or not

you will run into legal issues with a lexan windshield too.

Re: 1st gen Blazers; post pics here

One other things I forgot to mention. Some 80's vehicles only used the shatter resistant stuff on the windsheild. The others were a cheaper glass. I don't know what windows HAVE to be shatter resistant to be legal. I think all s-series glass is the same from the factory.

Most cops probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, especally if it's tinted. The problem with custom windows is usually that they scratch pretty easy. Then you can tell something's up.

Re: 1st gen Blazers; post pics here

im least worried bout the legalities of it, as long as it will be safe and look good, but ya i know what you sayin bout the scratchin and they make a lexan with margard, not sure exactly what that means but sounds as though it would be a protectant from minor scratches and such

I would say that dealing with the glass is the hardest part of doing a chop.
