no not really. It's just that I need money for a fuel sender, and to get that stupid passenger door open. Sender is about $100 or so, but the fixing the door, I'm not sure.

lol, nah the pump is fine, the gauge isn't reading the gas levels right at all. When it's like almost empty it reads around where it should be full or some gas in the tank. When it's pretty full or something in the tank, it reads like it's empty.

You might pull the gauge cluster and look at the back of it, see if theres anything wrong with the flexible plastic "ciruit board" that runs all of the gauges. The gas guage on my old sonoma acted the same way. Turned out the previous owners kid had layed a chocolate popsicle on the dash one hot summer day and forgot about it. Guess it melted and ran down behind the gauge cluster and gooped up the "circuit board" deal back there. I had a spare gauge cluster sitting here, popped it in the dash to see if that fixed it and no more problems.

Its not that difficult. A couple hours work might save you $100. And its a lot easier than dropping a tank and changing out the fuel sender, especially if the new sender doesnt fix the problem.

okay you talked me into it. I'm going to have some free time maybe not this Tues, but the next. Could you give me a step by step on how to go about taking the dash out and what I need to check for? I would take it to a shop, but I don't got much funds and I like doing it on my own so I can do it again if needed ya know?

Re: 1st gen Blazers; post pics here

You dont take the whole dash out, just the gauge cluster. You have to pull off the headlight switch panel and disconnect it, pull out the hvac panel--you may be able to get away with not disconnecting it, Im not sure. Disconnecting the heater/ac controls is kind of a bitch to do without breaking anything. Maybe some one else has a suggestion for that part? After all of thats out of the way remove the 4 nuts holding the housing to the dash. Pull the gauge cluster housing off and then you can unbolt the cluster and remove it from the dashboard. Dont forget to remove the little clip that runs from the gauge cluster to the steering column before removing the cluster. Otherwise youll break the little wire and your gear inidcator on the dash wont work any more. Before pulling the cluster out, mark where the little metal clip on the column is sitting so you can get it back into the right spot later without wasting time trying to get it adjust it correctly.

I tried taking out the heater controls, it didn't happen at all. It's too jammed in there. I was affraid of breaking something so I just didn't bother and put it back. I'm gonna see if I can find someone to elp me out on this. If anything, hopefully someone that likes beer will do it for me.

Looking good Doug. I can't wait to see it painted.

Here's my truck at Draggin' Detroit last weekend. I took 2nd place for under construction. All the led's on the truck were bought from Doug @ Street Issue Customs.

This is a pic of the led's out back. Kind of dark but I'll try getting a better pic tonight with them lit.
