How To Relocate Tail Gate Handle To The Inside

Click this link http://www.buildyourride.com/tech/relocatortemp.doc to get the template. You can buy the tail gate kit from Sir Mic's. or from FBI, or get the kit from EMA Customs out in Cali. like I did. Then follow these pics and in less then 1 HR. you can have the handle to the inside. After you relocate the handle you can then shave the outside.

Now go to the sides of the tail gate and use the same socket and t40 bit and unscrew the 2 bolts on boths sides.

Now flip the tail gate on the other side and pop the trim thats around the tail gate handle, pull it off and then pull the handle up and unclip the 2 clips that hold the rods then lift the rods off the handle and pull the handle out.

Pull the rods up and slide some cardboard under it so u dont loose them inside the gate.

Slide out the latches and rods both left and right sides. Make sure u dont drop the rods or disconnect them from the latches, lay the rods on the floor the same way they are in the tail gate.

Both rods layin on the ground. Make sure the rods come off the latches.

Now flip the tail gate back over and check out the area where the 3 bolts u had taken out are.

Now take the razor and cut out the dot-dot line, and cut that section out.

Ok now u can take a cut off wheel on an air tool or use a Dremel.. I decided to use the Dremel cause I have mad cuttin skills, just check out my Maltese Cut Crosses cut in the roll pan of my s10!

Now put something (i used a piece of cardboard) under the half cut section so it wont bounce around and once cut wont fall in the tail gate.

Now I cut the plate out but left about a 1/4" left to be trimmed so the final cut will be hella smooth.

Now take the handle housing out and then take the handle and line up the 3 holes both on the handle and the handle housing.
