Post How to disable DRL and AHL

How to disable AHL and DRL

99 and up AHL

Remove passenger side speaker grill on dash. Unplug wire from the light sensor (little ball sticking up from the grill). Insert 2.2k Ohm 1/2 watt resistor into plug, and use a zip tie to strap the plug down to the dash. Reinstall grill.

98 AHL

Remove passenger side speaker grill on dash. Unplug wire from the light sensor (little ball sticking up from the grill). Insert 680 Ohm 1/2 watt resistor into plug, and use a zip tie to strap the plug down to the dash. Reinstall grill.

98 and up DRL

Remove the cover on the fuse box under the hood. Locate the DRL relay. Locate pin 87A and 30 on the relay. DO NOT MODIFY PINS 87A OR 30. Bend or cut the other pins off the relay. ( I recommend bending the pin incase you bend the wrong one, you can always straighten it). Then plug the realy back in and check to make sure the DRLs are off and you still have high beams.

94 - 97 DRL

If you don't have factory fog lights just pull fuse #15.

If you have factory fog lights...

If you don't have factory fog lamps, pull the #15 fuse. But if you have the foglamps, here is how you do it:
First, disconnect the battery so you don't shock yourself (trust me, I learned the F-ing hard way)
Second, you need to pull of the front of the dash (take out the two screws in the cluster area, then just pull it off.
Then unscrew the fuse box. Locate the #15 fuse on the back of the fuse box. You will notice, there is one orange wire in, and two orange wires out. the two going out is what you focus on. One is for the fog lights, and the other is for the DRL's. Cut one, connect the battery and turn the ignition on. Pull the e-brake. If the DRL's are off, GOOD GUESS!! If you cut the wrong wire, connect the wire you just cut, and cut the other one. Your done and enjoy.

All of this will work on the S-10, Sonoma, Blazer and Jimmy (not sure about the Envoy's)

Instead of modifying the DRL relay, I just ran a jumper wire from where the 87a pin inserts to where the 30 inserts. It works fine, and that way if I ever need to have the DRL (if I ever sell the truck, or if the insurance company ever looks to see if I deserve the DRL discount) then I can just reinstall the relay.
